I wasn't crazy about Kevin's book (more for the way he wrote it than anything else) but you're right jello, he showed a great amount of knowledge about films and their social impact, and it wasn't limited to bad movies and pop culture. I dare suggest Kevin seems to be the smartest of the Brains, or at least the most refined. I would like to see more writings from him. Did you read his book all the way through? I didn't like it at first, but I ended up putting it in my all-time favorites list, by the end.

I read it (Kevin's) all the way through and it irritates me. He's a good writer but the whining arrogance wore me out. The man never stops bitching.
I love all of Mikes books, Mary Jo's was great too.

I love that, though! I love cranky Kevin! Though, maybe that's because I can identify with most of his complaints. And I wouldn't call it arrogance, he's just passionate about the cinema. I also found his book extremely touching in places. After it was all over, I really felt like I'd walked through the experience with him. Kevin is now sitting right up near the top of my favorite Brains list.

I don't mind some of it, hell I can bitch with the best of 'em, but after a while It was like "Jesus Kevin, is their nothing you wont whine about!"- I did like the sequence where he wrote about Rout 66. That showed a lot of love for cinema, it was nice.
But I felt there was a lot of arrogance, a superior than thou vibe to the whole thing (illustrated when he goes after art house patrons to name one). I HATE labelers, not EVERYONE who goes to those things is an empty poseur! Stuff like that, generalizations like that angers me to no end. (But I'm feeling icky so everything is making me cranky today - lol ;D

To be fair I didn't read it from cover to cover, I read it in increments. But yeah I definitely read the whole thing.

Mike's biography in the back of the ACEG is one of the most amazing things ever. It never fails to make me laugh.

Lincoln, I kinda see what you're saying about Kevin. He did admit that he's a big snob when it comes to movies in one of his interviews. I'm just hoping that doesn't extend to his everyday life. On the other hand his comments about Lawrence of Arabia set my heart aflutter with compliance.

Mike's post MST3K work is amazing. Everyone knows "Megacheese," but the book that doesn't get nearly the love it deserves imo is "Happy Kitty Bunny Pony." Some of those out-of-left-field riffs had me howling with laughter.
