I've always had cats. They don't smell like dogs do. They purr so, you actually get a reaction out of your affection unlike a dog who will just look at you stupidly and run off. Cats also mellow out more, they don't make as much noise, which is good for a house pet. I don't hate dogs, they can just be annoying at times and they don't listen a lot.
I'm just a cat person, Servo

I think it's a pointless debate. Not that I'm opposed to pointless debates but cats and dogs are so different it doesn't make sense to compare them. And I like them both equally, depending on how their cooked.

I also have to say Forrest I was a little dissapionted in the content of this thread. The topic says Cats of Dogs. I thought it was going to be a Seven Of Nine kind of thing.

I love and adore both. Dogs because,....well,....they're dogs. Cats,.... because I'm convinced that thousands and thousands of years ago they came to Earth on ships from another world. They're like Extraterrestrial rats. They always seem to be keeping that a secret from me.

Excellent question ;D I love both ! But for different reasons. Cats, in my opinion are really more pleasant to look at. With their delicate features, I've never seen a really ugly cat (and I've seen hundreds at the vet clinic I work for). They usually have deliciously soft fur, that's nice to touch and give kisses But they are huge brats! If they don't want to be affectionate, they sure let you know. But their independence is nice, when your life is busy and you don't have time to give them undivided attention. Dogs are man and woman's best friend. Always and forever. They are smart, and you can depend on them when you need them most. And I love puppy kisses! But many dogs have to go on personality when looks are lacking. Like a dog I saw win a dog show. The ugliest Pekinese. Looked like a mop with eyes. (sorry if any Pekinese owners out there ). By the way, I currently have only a cat, since my apartment won't allow dogs. But I am counting the days til I can move, and I can own a new best friend!

I love animals, so I actually love them both. However, I am a cat person because they're the only pets I've ever had. We have three at the moment.

I've had more cats than dogs, so I can easily say that I like cats more. I don't know why, but they are always friendly to me. The one cat we have back at home will come running when you call her name. Her fur is incredibly soft and smooth too, and she purrs really loud and hangs out there for like an hour wanting you to pet her.

I'm more of a cat person, but I've never owned one. I actually own two dogs at the moment (though not by choice. They're great, but I can't stand the smell).

I like Kitties. Not only do I have one, and I was obessive over cats at the age of three, but I get tired of people saying,"Dogs are more emotional" or "Dogs are a man's best friend" and so on. Cats could be emotional, too, and a person's best friend. For example, when I used to pull on my cat's tail, she meows painfully. And she chews on my plants.

I love them both. My sister and her husband have two cats and a puppy who is so much fun to be around whenever I come over. I have 4 cats myself and am more comfortable with them. I like a pet that will sit on your lap or in my case, my chest. Also my cat Tipper, he likes to go under the covers at night and that is so cute. I have some very good cats and will never get a dog but will definitely treat one nice when I see one.

Stop pulling your cat's tail. I said "used to". I stopped when I was six.

Mike Nelson doesn't like cats? No one should dislike cats, unless they are highly allergic. Interesting to see how many "cat people" are out there. Maybe (with the exception of Mike) it is the nature of a Mstie to like cats. If anyone else responds how about telling more about your cat/dog. Name, color, breed, etc. I have a black, white and gray tabby cat. Her birth name is Chia but we always call her Cheeky.
