Exciting information regarding K03. I hope it pans out.
I wonder if the audio for K06 broadcast edition can be restored by mixing in audio from other K06 sources. If I could get the audio files from as many as possible I should be able to clean it up. Might not be able to do much with the commercials if they only have the one source. Even if I don't succeed it would still be a fun project.

I fear that all bringing back the show did at this point was reinforce the stigma that MST3K can't be a profitable show. The best outcome I can see is that there is an angel investor who believes that the show can move forward with new management. This would most likely require Joel giving up creative control, and it does look like he may be ready to do just that. Worst case is that production companies have seen the problems the last three seasons have had, even with large influxes of essentially free money, and a failed partnership with netflix, and want safer projects to invest in.
I feel that this is a show that could run indefinitely like saturday night live under the right circumstances.

Each cast member has their own strengths and weaknesses. I could be wrong, but when all the host segments are being shot in a short time frame I assume that everything is scripted and there is no time to try something different if a bit is not working. This show benefits from the cast having comfortable familiarity with each other that seems missing in the newer seasons at times.

Can Joel accept the fact that most of his relevant conceptual input for the show was done in the KTMA year and was refined in the later seasons to improve the show. Mainly by dropping bits like the invention exchange that had run their course.

Glad to see that they went back to doing it that way.

They brought up how moving production could save costs. There was nothing else they could do?
I would like to see how much more the theater segments with prerecorded riffs and puppeteers cost compared to simply having the cast do it live like they used too.

I tried to watch the premiers but quit after 2 or 3 episodes. I just remember it being too buggy to bother with. I will admit had I planned to try again later in the season but never ended up doing so. I was skeptical of the whole gizmoplex idea to begin with. It just seemed like they were assuming it be easy to implement and had not really researched what making it work would entail. So we end up with a website that is little more than a fancy DVD menu with features that barely worked.

I think the combination of the gizmoplex not working, the S13 episodes having so many issues host segment wise, only to have the movie segments have such a imbalanced sound mix made it rough to watch. I was excited for S13. It was a let down.
Then the new campaign was so flat and uninspiring when it needed to be everything but that.

Joel walked away once. It's time for him to do it again. The first time the show was left in good hands and continued. We don't know what is going to happen this time. This show has a simple formula that works regardless of the cast. Go back to basics and keep things simple. In a entertainment industry that would rather make sequels or remakes over the risk of something unknown. This show should be an easy one to revive. Probably less easy now though. Maybe things with netflix did not work out because the show was always over budget, or they just did not like how they saw the show being run. Just like the fans are expressing now. MST3K is akin to comfort food. Might not be exactly the way you like it, but you still enjoy it.

I think that there was a real opportunity missed with the entire reboot. If they had kept the show budgets reasonable and planned for future seasons I think that things could be very different. I don't know how things went, but it sure feels like much of the budget for S11 (and S12 + S13) went for things that really did not add much to the show. Just look at the opening sequence. So many new "bells and whistles" that were unnecessary. I think most fans would of been happy if the show looked like it always did. We did not need a fancier more extravagant version. We saw that with the movie. Now the streaming boom is over and sites are looking to cut costs. If MST3k was a relatively cheap show that had the ability to stay within a budget it could possibly still have a home somewhere. Instead it appears that it has a been exactly the opposite. Perpetually over budget and mismanaged.

Classic MST3k is like a band that broke up and now all we have are solo projects that, while great at times, expose the weaknesses of the individual artists.

I wonder if streaming sites prefer the upscaled episodes. A large enough number available may offer other revenue streams.

If getting the movies are such a problem use a couple PD movies. That's the whole point of the show.
"We'll send him cheesy movies, The worst ever made. Joel says when you got lemons, You make lemonade."

I'm sorry, but at this point I think the show needs new producers to continue successfully.
