Cripes. Talk about being in a bad place. Honestly what I wrote doesn't quite match how bad of a place he articulated that he was in on this podcast. ... I love Jonah and want him to be happy. This is too bad. I always thought he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Hope it works out for him.

trying to get rid of it at a loss I seriously doubt $75 is a loss. I bet those things even in a fancy box cost no more than $25 to make, maybe even like $15 or $20. That's why I laughed at the price. It now makes sense that it was the kickstarter 'pledge price'

Interesting.
PSA: in case you did't read any forum posts about them, I wouldn't reccommend getting them. It sounds like they tried to do something 'interesting' with the moon dust instead of just regular sparkle snow, and for many people it just looked like cloudy mud water.
BTW, if you think 6.99 is astronomical then don't kickstart anything. I swear nothing is less than $10 when it finally comes time to send you your thing.
...edit... $175.00 retail.... HA Ha ha

'i've done 3 seasons and feel like I did it and am ok if there isn't any more'. Said nothing about plans to relaunch. Sounds a lot like Joel's 'I'm creatively satisfied' take during the kickstarter. Unconspiracy theory -- we take them at their word. They all did it, did it enough in their minds, and are done with it. Slightly more conspiracy -- I wonder if Season 13 was a lot of No Fun to make for many of the people involved. The whole covid thing. The whole too many cooks thing still going on between writers and multiple casts. The idea of multiple casts. The live streaming and closed releases. I wonder if the whole idea of New MST3K just got soured for a lot of people involved. I know it got soured for a lot of fans. I will say, I think the whole actor's strike is a big red herring. If Jonah, Patton, Felicia, whoever, was stoked for a season 14 they could have soo easily been tweeting and podcasting the day the strike ended which was well before the end of the campaign. I mean it's over now, and has been over for months. There is no reason why the people in question couldn't now be tweeting and podcasting about their excitement for a possible season 14 with "I can't wait to tell you about the stuff that's being worked on/talked about/being planned for next season" type communications.

I think the big thing to watch is the gizmoplex. I'm kind of waiting to see a post that says it's just gone down or just plain gone.
OTH, I have noticed they have their constant YouTube feed and that FAST live feed going all the time. That stuff might be giving them enough money to keep things afloat.

Today is March 25th, so it's been four months since the MST3K season 14 failed.
Any news from anywhere? I haven't heard any.

Cool. And, changing up filming from Nashville. Interesting. All the VIP stuff went in like under an hour.

I think the biggest thing is: This is nothing new. It's how RiffTrax has operated forever, even when it was still being written by MK&B (each would get a third of the movie to riff), and I thought it sucked back then-- How do you bounce jokes back and forth off of each other? That's how you get the best jokes. How are you ever going to get any jokes or themes woven throughout the movie? Those are my favorite joke. It's what really gives the feel that you are watching and experiencing the movie with the riffers.
It doesn't surprise me that this is how they do it at NuMST3K, but it is just more sad proof that we'll never have a true new riffing show until someone has the b@lls, or the laziness, to actually sit in a room with all the performers/writers and watch and write-riff the damn movie together.

I always liked him. I thought he was already dead. Maybe thinking of Gary Shandling, who I also like and I think had similar comedic tendencies.
I'm pretty sure I have a memory of Lewis having his own TV show for a season or so that centered on his comedic style. (...google... Anything But Love, and it actually ran 4 season and costarted Jamie Lee Curtis!)
Ah the late 80s.

MST3K was made in america by americans who had the freedom to make a silly show that often poked fun at america and americans.

I wouldn't disagree. His singing is lovely and often clever and funny. But I would say it's on the upper end of the usage scale.
I also sometimes think that a minor quibble of the golden era of Season 3-5 is that they use a lot of sing a song or point out a look-a-like to fill riff space. It's kind of like their version of Season 8-10s use of look at that dumb guy, this movie sucks type filler riffs.
