Did someone say old and bald?
Oh, just old, huh?
Sorry. Wrong board.

It's working for me, but I'm on my laptop. Not sure about mobile. I'll check the help forums and see if it's a common problem.

Got back from seeing the live riff of The Brain yesterday in Colorado. It was AMAZING! I laughed my butt off! The riffing was top-notch and there was hardly a dull moment. Also got to meet another MSTie there I know online. Was a great night all around, and now I’m even more pumped for season 12! I was also at the Boulder show. Sorry I didn't check out this thread beforehand. I would have loved to connect. It was a great time. I hope they find a way to release it someday because the riffing was terrific.

I felt like entire scenes were missing:
1) They went from Chief Vick's daughter getting kidnapped to the whole crew on the dock with no explanation. 2) Two police officers (three, if you count Henry) just willingly give up their guns and nonchalantly get into a boat with the villain with no confrontation? I know he has a hostage, but they have guns and outnumber him! 3) They never really explain Juliet's relationship to Vick's daughter, or dealt with her admitted, legitimate, wrongdoings in her arrest record. 4) Shawn and Gus have nicknames for the bad guys even though they haven't actually interacted with them yet. 5) Henry just walks into the story (and the apartment) for no reason. 6) How did Juliet's partner get the dongle in his stomach when Shawn and Gus saw it in the mental hospital while he was in intensive care? 7) Shawn has a Gin Blossoms dream that he never talks about with anyone that just abruptly pays off with the villain reveal. 8) They look at Alcatraz and suddenly they're inside with no problems? 9) Vick's daughter just happens to free herself, just happens to have overheard the bad guys talk about the detonation "code", Juliet just happens to know it, and can punch it into some keypad we can't see?
Just a TON of jumping around without earning the plot points, and no real stakes. The B-story with Gus and the planetarium girl also felt super thin, too. I feel like there must be a 3-hour director's cut that got butchered for broadcast.
The Gremlins psychphransisco office was worth a couple laugh-out-loud moments for me, and Woody always delivers.

So I'm watching the season again, a couple months after my first two viewings. This time through, I'm noticing new irritants, and enjoying some things that I didn't the first time.
I still love the movies they picked, for the most part. Cry Wilderness and The Beast of Hollow Mountain are just as amazing as before. The pacing of the host segments still feels off, but Max and Kinga work for me.
The riffs are funnier each time, but the run-on riffs are really annoying on repeated viewings. For example, last night I was watching At the Earth's Core, and at one point Servo started singing Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds. "Picture yourself in a boat on a river..." would have been a perfect riff for that moment. But instead, he continued tediously, "...with tangerine trees and marmalade skies." Now, the riff was over an image of odd colored trees and skies, so I get why they wanted to include the second line of the song. But the riff itself was twice as long as necessary, and therefore only half as funny. This is just one example of dozens throughout the season, where the riff was just beaten to death. Brevity is...wit.
But the worst thing for me this time through is, sadly, Baron Vaughn. His inflection, his timing, and his voices just don't work for me. Hampton is an impressively capable Crow and puts personality into his riffs. Jonah has a delivery that I warmed up to over time. Baron, unfortunately, is the opposite for me. He sings a lot, but doesn't quite have the chops. He loves to do an Andrew Dice Clay voice, and it's terrible every time. Ditto his Morgan Freeman. When there's an aforementioned run-on riff that tanks, dollars to donuts it's Baron.
One last thing: someone in the writer's group REALLY loved the Muppets. There's like 15 Muppet-related riffs per episode. There's even a Rowlf robot host segment. I love the muppets as much as the next guy, but it sticks out noticeably on repeated viewings.
I still like the season, and I've warmed up to the idiosyncrasies of the relaunch. But 75-80% of what I dislike this time through seems to come from one place. Bummer.

God, does anyone remember me? I barely remember me. Hugh? Hugh...Beaumont? Ho ho ho! Why you old so-and-so! Has it really been 20 years? Seems like only yesterday we were running around the halls of this high school together. Look at us now, huh? Remember that time in shop class when you...HAHAHA! I can't believe we got away with that. Man, it's so good to see you. Let's make sure to exchange info before the night's over, alright? *walks away mumbling to no one in particular* Wow. Hugh Beaumont. Never thought I'd see the day. He really let himself go...

So I cleaned out my Photobucket catalog. It was a fun trip down memory lane. It's not too difficult to just download the entire library (you have to do .gifs and vids individually). Just be ready for a ton of interrupting ads that makes scrolling a pain. I opened up an imgur account, which is pretty seamless. I also switched over all of the headers and banners around here, so we don't have to look at those infuriating Photobucket warning icons anymore. However, I'm sad that all of the old threads with images in them-- like Halloween costumes, contests, and meet-ups-- are now worthless. Methinks I might repost all of the fun history in new threads. Like this classic: Or this one: Or this:

As of June 27, 2017, Photobucket is now charging $399/year to allow 3rd party use of images (i.e. forum usage). This is a slight up-charge from their previous price of ZERO DOLLARS!!!
As a regular user of photobucket since its inception, all of my images on this board-- dating back to November of 2003-- are now gone from our forum. This includes Halloween costumes, contest threads, meet-up photos, and avatars.
I understand the need for them to change policy and make a profit. But an increase of $399 with no warning, after almost 15 years of a growing inventory of storage? That's highway robbery. Color me pissed.
I also understand the need for me to get with the times and use a more contemporary service for my 3rd party storage needs. Any suggestions?

It would be nice if the admins allowed non-members to view the sub-boards (like the Rocket Number Nine stuff). Right now only forum members know the TV and movie boards exist, and even we can't browse them unless we're already signed in. If newbies saw that Walking Dead or Marvel or Game of Thrones-type discussions were going on here, it might generate more interest and encourage newbies to become members and join the conversation. Then at least we'd be getting some more cross-over traffic. A good idea. Done and done.

I think the advent of Facebook was the first real hit we took. Even now, I'm still in touch with a few departed board members that way. There are lots of old members that I miss, and some more that I don't. But I know I sleep a little better knowing that Mod City is still at his post. Semper Fi, my friend!
I'm here most days, and I still watch old episodes as often as ever. My problem is that I used up all of my creative ideas for threads back in 2007. I'm just not as funny or interesting as I used to be. And considering how low of a bar that was, that's saying something.

I'm assuming most everyone has heard about this, but now it's time for a thread to discuss it. Joel, Jonah, and the bots are coming to a theater near you, live and in the flesh (or hot-glued molded plastic, as applicable). In each city, they'll be doing a live riff of "Eegah!" with new jokes. In select cities, they'll be doing a second night with a riff of a "secret, sci-fi, previously unriffed" film. Check the site for your city. Unless you live in Texas. Join us, won't we?

Both the AVClub and io9 gave it a glowing review, and they are consistently anti-Moffat hangouts. Critics out there seem to really like this season so far.
Maybe it's her character or her accent, but Bill isn't doing much for me yet. And something about her eyebrows is just unsettling to me. But Capaldi is still awesome. He seems to be playing a more mellow version of the Doctor, which I'm enjoying.

One the one hand, it clearly is some fanservice. And that could be welcome to some and annoying to others.
But on the other hand, if season 11 is really a continuation and not a reboot, what's wrong with repeated riffs? After all, how many episodes used "hi-keeba" and "gymkata!" in the first 10 seasons? Or "Watch out for snakes"? Or "diarrhea is like a storm..."? Recurring riffs is a hallmark of the show, and if it didn't bother you when they referenced a sampo in season 6, then it shouldn't bother you when they reference "time for go to bed" in season 11.
