I heard a while back (and I’ll admit this is a stretch even for a rumor) that some sort of talk between BBI and The B-Movie Channel went on about doing MST there… Or at least a spin-off type version. I asked Barb at the info club and she doesn’t know anything about it but who knows? I think that they expressed interest, but nothing ever really came of it. Cool user name, BTW.

Any Ted Turner network would be perfect. If I'm not mistaken(and I may be) Ted owns the biggest old movie library on earth. It seem like rights issues for many episodes wouldn't be an problem.

I could be wrong, but I don't think SpikeTV is under Turner. Turner used to own the WCW and sold it to Vince McMahon who's WWE wrestling show is on SpikeTV. It wouldn't make sense for Turner to sell a money-losing wrestling organization to himself. TNT and TBS are however under Turner, so maybe one of those stations could pick up the show? Okay here is the story: Jim Crockett Promotions (owner of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling) put on a pay-per-view event called Starcade 1987. Jim Crockett invested everything he had in the event. The event was a dud, and Jim Crockett was forced to sell his wrestling company or just go bankrupt. He sold his wrestling to Ted Turner. Ted Turner bought this because he wanted to keep his number one rated program alive. They renamed Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling (also the name of the main TV show), in 1990. Eventually the company became part of the AOL-Time Warner merger. But the company lost money for most of the time Ted Turner owned it. After it lost over $80 million in 2000, AOL-Time Warner decided to get rid of it. Vince McMahon didn't buy WCW, he bought it's trademarks, video library and some wrestler's contracts. AOL-Time Warner still owns a wrestling company called Universal Wrestling Corp. which mainly deals with paying off the huge debt left by WCW. Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation aired on The National Network beginning in 2000. The National Network is owned by VIACOM. The World Wrestling Federation continued to air on VIACOM's TNN through the buy with World Championship Wrestling. Vince McMahon in 2002 had to change his companies name from the World Wrestling Federation to World Wrestling Entertainment. The National Network changed it's name to Spike TV in August of 2003 despite legal problems dealing with Spike Lee.

[glow=green,2,300]I know this might be a little farfetched, but why couldn't they pay the studio a little percentage of the profits just so that they can use the movie they want to feature on the show? I mean it's a win/win situation for both MST3K and the Studio that owns the rights. MST3K can broaden their choices fir movies and the studios can recoup money from a movie that never made them that much money in the first place. I don't know. Maybe I'm just a little naive about showbiz.[/glow]

I think Tech TV would be great for MST3K.
Spike TV would be great too, but the best would be for like, AMC to pick it up, they like movies, you'd think a show where each episode is essentially a movie would be great for it. I'm sure someone will pick up MST somewhere along the line, you don't go 10 years without someone wanting to syndicate it.
Also, has anybody noticed that Spike TV seemed to only change in name? Their stupid adult cartoons all failed, so their scheduleing has basically remained the same.

Well what about Mission: Impossible?
They continued their storylines in 1988 after the original series was canceled in 1973. Cancelled again in 1990, only to continue the series on the big screen in 1996.
And then there's Star Trek which built up cult status after being cancelled in 1969, moved to the big screen in 1979 and spun off The Next Generation in 1987.
How's that for hiatus comebacks?

I hope you don't mind Forest, but I got rid of a couple thousand of those 0's.
That was just way too annoying.

Ah well, you have to consider this as well, Star Trek has been around since the 60's, MST3K has, well, HAD been on cable for 10-15 years. That means old Trekkies passed it on to their kids and by now, they're probably passing it on to their kids. We'll all do that eventually.
Maybe,
