Besides, what if the new writers really suck? Then you'll be begging for Mike, Kevin and Bill. But what if they don't. That's something to consider.

In my mind, nobody could do better than BBI. Bottom line, I HATE HATE HATE the idea, and that's my opinion, and it won't change. I'm not saying that it would top BBI, but with all the crap on TV, what could we lose? I'm willing to give it a shot and keep an open mind. That's my opinion and it won't change.

I just can't picture a new MST3K without Crow and Tom. While the puppeteers may have changed, the bots were the one constant on the show (along with the SOL). To have new bots would change the feel of the show, IMO.
However, if that's the way things had to be, then I would still give it a chance.

With enough money you could probably get most of the original cast back. At their recent appearance in San Francisco, Mike, Kevin and Bill all said they'd come back. I know. I was there sitting five feet from the stage. With enough money you could probably get other cast members back -- especially if they were able to participate more in the profits from the show. As I understand it, there were only a couple of principals in Best Brains, Inc. and the rest were just employees -- many of them on unemployment much of the time.
The show could be profitable, too. There are thousands of fans who would purchase new episodes from Rhino for at least what they are paying for DVDs, but right now, only us fans have a chance to bring the show back.
I'd really like to see the core group get together again, because I believe they are the most talented team of television writers ever assembled. Compare them to what has classically been considered the best television writing staff -- the Sid Ceaser's Show of Shows staff. That staff had Neal Simon and Woody Allen on it. As much as I like both of those writers I get more laughs from any MST3K episode than any Woody Allen movie or Neal Simon play.
Yet, the show is such a strong concept that I think it could still succeed with a different cast. It's much like Saturday Night Live in that respect. Talented comedians could really bring the show back to life again, and there are far more bad movies that need riffing. It's like a public service. It needs to happen again.

With a new crew, the biggest thing I would be afraid of is that the newbies would try to imitate the old style. That would give it a wooden me-too feel, and the show would be instantly ruined. Either they would have to bring a whole new style to the table, or they would have to watch alot of older eps and meet with the old crew and "train".
I wouldn't like the idea of the show coming back again. Isn't ten years-worth of episodes enough?
I would be interested in doing a fan vid, however. That sounds like so much fun, while at the same time I could do what i've always wanted to do ever since my first mst exposure 9 years ago...make fun of movies!

I know how to get Mike and his Robot pals back into space, bait him into going to the Gizmoic Institute thinking it's going to be a job interview. Since on the show Mike looked like he was out of employment after the SOL crashed.

What the hell is wrong with you people? New episodes would kick major ass! New cast? f***** THAT. Why not let the brilliance of the show live on? The best of MST may be yet to come. No hard feelings;) If these proposed new episodes were anything like the season 10 ones, then they shouldn't keep going.

I dunno, it would be great to have some more episodes, I just have a feeling that if they did it, the new ones wouldn't be good.
But yeah, Soultaker, Merlin, and Future War are pretty good eps.

I know what you mean. At one time, I questioned bringing new eps. But, come on, Mike is a comic genius. If he's on the show, and writes for the show, you can't go wrong. Season 10 wasn't excellent, but I feel it was a very good season overall. However, they did seem a bit worn out. See Last Dance Raw. Everyone, mius Beez, was totally worn out. Eevn Bill Corbett! After a 5 year break, what can go wrong? If they decide to make some new ones, then i'm all for it. I dunno...it just doesn't feel right.

But why? I mean, if everyone felt the show should stop when Joel left, then season seven would have never come would it? Yeah, but I mean the only thing that changed is that Joel left. Frank and Trace left by the time SciFi came about (which I was slightly worried about), but now alot of the original crew has left (to other countries even!), and the only people who are left that I know of are the big three: Mike, Kevin, and Bill. They weren't the only writers, of course. The ones that have moved on might not want to come back (Paul, Mary Jo, Bridget, etc.) which would definitely reduce the broad range of jokes displayed before. Again, i'm all for it, but I just don't feel right about it. Who knows? It could turn out OK.

Season 10 wasn't excellent, but I feel it was a very good season overall. I often find myself disagreeing with Forest but here we agree. Not on all the same eps but I think 10 has a number of good one's. And I believe the time is right for a resurrected MST.

I think coming back one or two years after the cancellation would have been too soon. But five seems right. It's so crazy it might just work! But nort Torgo's harebrained idea of a new cast and writers.

Why bring a new cast? A bunch of idiot teenagers from reality shows? The writers for The Jimmy Kimmel show? Hell no! The Writers for Red Dwarf would be an awesome addition to the writing crew.

If the majority of the cast still wants to do the show then there really is no need for replacements. Also I have a feeling that if they did replace the cast then it would be doomed to failure like most shows that try to imitate their predecessor and slap a "NEW" on the title(The New Monkees and The New WKRP for example). I wouldn't mind if they introduced New Mads but that's as far as I would go in the replacements category.
