Barry, not to look beyond this release but if you continue to offer these (and I hope you do), how about a poll here or on "Satellite News" giving us fans some input on the movie choices? Have 3 or 4 available to choose from. Maybe a good way to drum up additional interest.
I want to thank you for making these "Mike Nelson" releases available. I really have enjoyed them. Might you consider including Kevin Murphy with Mike in the future?

Skyronitor - I always visit this site as does David Martin and any suggestions from the MST3K fans are more than welcome. I wish Freaks was Public Domain but it's not. Terror In Tiny Town is another favorite of mine. We expect to have our list of 35mm cult classics available shortly but ahead of that, any public domain cult classics that you would like added to the Off Color Films library with Mike's commentary will certainly be considered. They can't be obscure films but should be high profile evergreens like Reefer Madness, Night of the Living Dead, Carnival of Souls, Stooges and Plan 9. All are very recognizable, already significant retail sellers and most importantly, public domain or in the hands of a copyright owner eager to colorize for distribution in this format.
Mike is our bud! However what the Film Crew did on our Stooges DVD was GREAT and we'd would love to get them involved in the future on other Off Color Films projects.

Barry, you know Mike personally, so maybe it's dumb of me to mention it, but Terror of Tiny Town was turned down repeatedly for an episode of MST3K. But to be fair so was Plan 9 from Outer Space.

vanhagar3000 - I don't know for certain but it's likely they were turned down for different reasons. Some posters here mentioned that a running commentary would work on Plan 9 (and it does with Mike) but the MST3K format might not have worked.
Regarding Terror of Tiny Town; I have no idea why that was rejected. It might simply be a sensibility to the little people, the same reason that Freaks probably would not have been considered if it were on the MST3K list. Each might have been hilarious but also simply in bad taste and totally insensitive. There are enough bad movies to hit on without being cruel. That said, I'd love to completely restore and colorize Freaks.

Oh yeah. I know there is a difference. In fact, I feel a bit silly saying it here, I probably should have put it more as trivia. I think Terror may make a good DVD release. I can't remember why the rejected Terror, I think they said they couldn't make fun of a midget western for 90 mintues, but here they wouldn't be making fun of it the WHOLE time.
Plan 9 was rejected due to excessive dialouge.

Barry, just keep putting the commentary on the restored B&W and I will have no problem with your garish colorizations. That was my sticking point on the early releases. All I want is a full service DVD.

(This message does not address Phantoms concerns, just to be clear, so he doesn't think I'm ganging up on him)I myself don't see this as any kind of 'blasphemy'. Plan 9 is a turd. And it might be the grandest turd of all... but it still stinks nomatter how you slice it. Plus, it's not like Legend is making permanent changes to the film and that the original will never be seen again. As to them doing this for a profit, yeah, this is a business. I'm sure there's some love but love don't pay the rent. If this auction allows them to release more commentaries with Mike, I'm down with that. Heck, if I had the cash I'd bid. The thought of Bela next to a photo of me with my long hair, playing the Telecaster, makes me laugh out loud. And that's the point, this about having fun, laughing, getting a kick out of life. I'm very surprised at how uptight some MSTies can be. We worship a show that was irreverant, sometimes mean, that danced on the edge of being offensive (I.E, Joel's steriotypical southern redneck in "Danger to myself and Others" skit in "Giant Leeches"). I thought we'd generally be more lose and devil make care about all this. And Mr. Atari, I agree, No nudity? What are they thinking! Buuuut, maybe we can all bid and have Nerdies wrestling pic added to the movie. That would be a riot!

Regarding the frontal nudity... because of popular demand we're reconsidering. Could easily be confused with uncle Charlie with his big jowls a long nose and a full head of hair... lol.

Hey, Barry, how about you set up a poll here of the movies you can get and Mike is willing to comment on?

Hey, Barry, how about you set up a poll here of the movies you can get and Mike is willing to comment on? Can't speak for Mike on this. We have some other titles we'd like him to riff but can't mention them at this time. The films to be considered should be of cult stature and broadly notable.

I'd recommend Attack of the Beast Creatures - but it's already in color. Maybe they could de-colorize it. I'd like to see Attack Of The Killer Crabs. Or Giant Crabs or whatever that movie was called.
