Argh, if only I didn't have to wait till christmas. And I can't believe that I'm going to have to ignore the inevitable thread about it too....

I have to wait to see if it ends up under the Christmas tree as well. Can't wait to get it though, Mike absolutely rocks and he didn't let me down with Haunted Hill (which I had high expectations for) so I'm chomping at the bit for Plan 9.

It came...and my wife promptly snatched it up saying, "You're hard enough to buy for, and I want the kids to see you opening something..." So, I'll let you know after Xmas.

Woot! I got mine already as well. (Might help that I am within driving distance from Legend Films.) I will give a full report as soon as I watch it tonight.

My wife and I just finished watching it. I thought the Mike Nelson commentary was funny, although I am running on very little sleep and I’m exhausted, so I only kinda half paid attention to it while I wolfed down my dinner. The Plan 1-8 extras were sort of ho-hum, and the “deleted scenes” were disappointing. The Ed Wood home movies got really scary when he starts to play dress up, and I shut it off at that point.
All in all worth the purchase I think. I only checked out the colorized version really quick, and I thought that it made Ed Wood’s incredibly cheep sets look even worse.

When is it being released to the general populace? I don't see it listed on Amazon yet. Hurry Christmas

Received and reviewed. Plan 9Scroll down a bit to get to it. I don't think it'd the funniest of his commentaries, but was a ton O' fun never the less. So what's next for Mike? He's finally done Plan 9 and a William Castle, what other B Movie mountain is left to cross?

I still say that Legend should have Mike riff some of the other reefer movies like Marihuana or, preferably Assassin of Youth (which co-stars Luann Walters of The Corpse Vanishes). There's also The Cocaine Fiends, Damaged Lives and Sex Madness.
Would also mean that they might do some restoration of them.

"Sex Madness" is awful. I downloaded the copy from the Internet Archive, and it wasn't even unintentionally funny, like Dwain Esper's other movies "Marihuana" and "Maniac" (BTW, "Maniac" is one that I would like to see Legend restore and color, and let Mike mock in a commentary track). "Sex Madness" is one of those rare films that actually NEEDS a commentary track to be entertaining.
I haven't seen "The Cocaine Fiends" yet, but I recently bought a VHS copy when I was down in Key West. I'll take a look at it maybe at midnight.
EDIT: "The Cocaine Fiends" is an interesting movie...it had some elements of unintentional camp, it came close to being a good movie in a few spots, but it is very boring compared to "Reefer Madness" and "Marihuana." I think that it could be improved, however, with a Mike Nelson commentary, though.
