I haven't figuredout the Mallon interview, but I did find some great MST3K clips on this sight. And now that I have a new computer (with sound!) I can waste time at work (I mean on my lunch break) watching these!

Curse my lack of a sound card!
Ah, well. I'm sure it'll appear in text format some day....some how....

he said "well" and "um" alot I'm trying to figure out the "new" information he revealed. There were basically interesting tidbits of detail in the tapestry of the history of the show we're all familiar with. The "Mystery Science Theater 2000" story gets a retelling...basically KTMA needed a name, Joel said 2000, Jim said "too close, how about 3000." Jim met Joel when working down the hall from him on "Blood Hook", going to the elevator and the flaming boutineer (sp?!) jumping out of Joel's lapel endeared him instantly.

Where/how do I find the other MST files on the site, by the way? I tried, but couldn't quite figure out what you were talking about, Bix.

Not sure if this was what Bix meant, Cleo, but if you go to the MST page at the Rhino website, you should see a link on the right-hand side that says " Music Videos! Watch Videos By MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000." That link should take you to the MST page in the Retro Vid section of the site. There you should see links to streaming videos of clips from some of the DVD collections. Here's the list. (Note I didn't paste the links here.) :: MST3K Vol. 8 - Strange Sightings :: MST3K Vol. 8 - Rocketship :: MST3K Vol. 8 - Hobgoblin :: MST3K Vol 7 - Shrew This :: MST3K Vol 7 - Burning Love :: MST3K Vol 6 - Flesh Wound :: MST3K Vol 6 - Self Serve :: MST3K Vol 6 - Bad Dave :: MST3K Collection Vol. 6 (TV Ads)

Ohhhhh.... his name is pronounced "mal-lon". For some reason all these years, I thought it was Ma-lone as in Sam Malone. Doink!

The interview stopped about 5 minutes in. Could somebody post a transcript of the interview?

The interview stopped about 5 minutes in. Could somebody post a transcript of the interview? They won't. The priviledged few with access just won't heed the cries of those to whom Fate has dealt a bad hand. We're stuck in the dark, and the match-carriers don't want to risk getting dampened by the rain of misfortune that follows us. It's unfortunate, but it's life.

Yeah, I finally got around to listening to it. Some neat stuff...it was fun to hear his three favourite episodes*, and I liked his attitude--at least, in public anyway--towards the fans. Saying how he always thought MST was for "the B+ students" and even complimented science-fiction fans in general, saying he felt "honoured" that MST was considered among the things that these intelligent, passionate people really cared about. That was neat.
And the stuff about how _incredibly_ low-budget the KTMA days were...heh. Wow. (Most of it was already in the Amazing Colossal Episode Guide, though.)

*For those of you who can't hear it, they were: Manos, Mitchell, and then he almost named "Moon Zero Two" and "12 to the Moon" before finally the interviewer figured out he meant "Rocketship X-M". Yaaaayyy! Somebody else likes that one!

Well, because Affy's been nice to me, and because I've needed something to do today that lets me stay still, I've been working on a transcript on the extended interview. It's taken me about, oh, two hours to do the first fifteen minutes! But that's okay. What I'd like to know is where this sort of thing can be posted.
