With all of the mounting problems they have with it, I have to agree that Volume 11 *might* be the last MST Rhino release.

The only thing I wish was if SN would make a seperate news post as to explain why they've moved the release date to late March or for Rhino to explain the problems with V. 10 or talk publicy about V. 11.

I'm beginning to suspect there will be no more mst's released by rhino. Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope you're wrong about that. I have a feeling you may be right. I'm not saying a word.

How much are page-long ads in Variety these days?
Time will tell, but despite mistakes, Rhino is kinda the "fan's champion" of distributors. If we move on to another distributor, chances are the extras would dry up (such as they are.)

With all of the mounting problems they have with [Volume 11] What "mounting" problems? While there was a still-unconfirmed* problem with Volume 10, what if anything do you know about Volume 11? *One possible reason why Rhino hasn't made any sort of a statement? Possibly the old "We don't comment about ongoing legal matters" situation?

Because it's an embarrassing situation for them. To have to pull a MSRP $60 box set because of whatever rights issue wasn't resolved prior to release...well, I can understand how they would feel the less said about it, the better.
This isn't the first time a Rhino set has been delayed, but I can understand how/why some would question the future of MST3K on the Rhino label. I think it's been a money maker for a subsidiary label. We never would have seen 10 DVD box sets in the last 3 or 4 years if it weren't. But, the cost of the Vol. 10 blunder could be huge for a small label like Rhino.
They could take the approach that they do with some of their music releases, the "Handmade" series, and do a ridiculously low # of MST DVD box sets, but I really hope they don't. That would feel so "elitist" for a cowtown puppet show.

*One possible reason why Rhino hasn't made any sort of a statement? Possibly the old "We don't comment about ongoing legal matters" situation? So why don't they just say that instead of nothing? I don't really have an answer to that. I've thought about it, and snap thoughts have come, though I don't think they're necessarily true. One thought is that SatNews hasn't asked for an on-the-record quote from the PR person. They usually cite a "source" at Rhino, not PR Person X. The source may not be able to even decline to comment on the record (I don't know the corporate climate of Rhino to know how free anyone would be to comment). Another is that they may be directed to a specific person, and that person isn't returning their calls/mails. Would the lack of comment merit a post at SatNews? Would it be fair, or would it make MSTies nervous, beyond any fears/concerns people are feeling now? Again, I don't really know. Beljah may have it nailed, though. I still think we'll see more releases. I'll give them the spring, at least.

I doubt it'll be the last MST release. This experience might have just knocked them off balance. And did anyone consider that maybe Rhino just doesn't care about telling us? I mean, technically speaking, it's not like we need to know anything. It would be a considerate gesture, but they're a business, not Good Samaritans. And if I was dealing with a recalled release, I probably wouldn't want to talk about it or anything related to it unless I had to.
Anyway, with volumes 1, 3, and 10 going out of print, fans have been sucking them up, seemingly, twice as quickly, so I'm sure the probable boost in sales will encourage Rhino. And one legal issue out of ten box sets? Those are damn good odds, given the nature of the series. Rhino would be foolish to run and hide after only this.

I don't know why so much significance is being attached to the one month delay. Has a single MST3K collection ever actually made its original slated date? The only thing I wish was if SN would make a seperate news post as to explain why they've moved the release date to late March or for Rhino to explain the problems with V. 10 or talk publicy about V. 11. Because it's not information that SN has? They have a "source" in Rhino; they don't personally hide underneath the conference room table during business meetings. Or, just as likely, they might happen to know what's going on but aren't allowed to say. There's no lawsuit discussed in that thread. This is what we know that can be confirmed: -Volume 10 has been pulled from store shelves. ... That's it. While we can speculate and make educated guesses as to why this happened, without any confirmation by the people at Rhino or Toho, we simply do not know the real circumstances behind it. Pretty important point, I'd say. Is MST3K a near-impossible show for home video release and is always in danger of being stopped? Sure. But there's nothing to indicate that Vol. 11 is in any more trouble than any other volume was.

By my count, there's still well over 100 eps that have yet to be released. And they can't find another 4 of those that they can get the rights to?
I find that hard to believe.

They are ironing out the deal to get the two Peggy Webber episodes.

Not that I really no much about the business, but I can't believe that people make it so tough for Rhino to get the rights to release these movies. I can kinda understand Godzilla but Beginning of the End? Skydivers? Catalina Caper? What the Hell else are these people going to do with these movies?

Probably nothing. But once they find out that someone is interested their property, for whatever reason, they can be bastards about it. Such is business.
