I love this part:
Joel talks about how Jerry Seinfeld got him interested in doing stand-up again because he seemed "healthy" about it.
The interviewer asks, "Had you seen people in your comedy career, or in Hollywood, when you first moved to L.A., that didn't seem healthy to you?"
"Yeah, a lot--most of them, most stand-ups."
"In what way?"
"I don't know, they just seemed motivated to do the really easy thing, and there just wasn't any direction...."
Frank interrupts, "Joel, I'm sitting right here."
Joel comes right back with, "Frank, I'm sorry this has to come out right now, but I'm ready, and I want you to accept my criticism of your life...."
So, did anyone else feel a little bit, I dunno, embarrassed when the guys would mention that "on the forums, people were saying this and that...." I mean, I know CT has a forum. That's probably what they mean. But it gives me a kinda funny feeling. It's sort of like writing about someone and suddenly realizing they're behind you, looking over your shoulder. What if Joel or J. Elvis or Frank have been reading our posts? Maybe even one of my posts, even? What if one of them's reading this right now?!? AAAAAAH! [runs and hides]

It's gotta be RAD. I mean, he's our mole into the world of the Brains... who's to say he hasn't been playing double agent?!? RAD, you've got some 'splaining to do.  The interview sounds really interesting - I'll definitely have to give it a listen later, when I've got some free time. |

[runs and hides] I don't know if I felt embarrassed, but I did feel like they were talking about us. I mean, did the other forum start listing their order numbers when they bought it? I think it's totally cool if they are watching though. It means they're interested in what we have to say! Hooray! We're important! But on another note, I want to say that this really is the coolest interview I've heard from Joel in a while. I know a lot of it wasn't new info for us (especially after our 40 questions), but it's the first time that I've ever heard Joel talk about anything at length and not seem uncomfortable. Maybe it was because he had Frank and Josh there, but he seemed to be really relaxed. I dunno, I guess I just realized how little I've actually heard him talk in a non riffing format. Hearing him answer the questions (as opposed to text only) and listening to his non-sound byted conversation was really refreshing, and it gave me a much better feel for who he is. He needs to do more of these!  |

Josh is absolutely talking about us when he says "watching it launch in real-time. You go to "a board" and everybody's just ordered it, then it's "it didn't come yet . . . then it's "I Got It" <<< thread quote !! . . then they're reviewing it to each other."
I mean , The CT forum was still baby-stepping at that point , no ?
This whole thing is great , of course.
After a cringing start of , what was it "Voice of Youth -- Ultimate Fun" ? , at least the host got cool and real. His one goofy question was "so did you have it in mind to be a comedian as you entered comedy ?"
pfft !
But then comes revelations and filled-out versions of things we thought we knew !
Hope Joel's book of all the ideas for hire that they re-acquired comes out !
