Although MST3K.com did recently mention that the 20th anniversary of the launch of MST on KTMA is coming up. At least they acknowledge KTMA happened. Maybe that means they'll post some KTMA clips? Jim Mallon does have all the KTMA episodes in his archive, after all. I thought we found out that only KTMA had copies of the episodes, if they still exist?

I thought we found out that only KTMA had copies of the episodes, if they still exist? *SIGH* No, no, no. Jim Mallon, as far as anybody knows, has the only master prints of the KTMA episodes. Thank you.

Thank you. Source, please? I'm positive I read otherwise, recently. I know we got an official, or semi-official, word on it. Just don't remember where it came from.

Jim Mallon is the only one who has the tapes, and as of last word still has this. I'm sure. I'll try to find a source.

Satellite News - History of MST3KIt was written years ago, so unless Mallon destroyed the tapes (which is possible), he's probably the only one who has them. Someone did contact the KTMA station (now WUCW), but I thought there was no good result. Someone should search that.

I can't help but hold onto the hope that somewhere, somehow there exists on a long forgotten VHS tape the first three KTMA episodes. Nothing broadcast in the late Eighties can be unique. Since MST3K is, after all, a cult show, not everyone knows about the three lost episodes. It's somewhere. Somebody's got it.
Yeah, I know, and the Cubs will win the Series next year.

I hold onto this hope as well. I know plenty of people who taped premier episodes on vhs (before this new age of tivo and internet downloads) On the lowest mode you could get three episodes per tape, so it's out there. In a dark recesses of a file cabinet, or boxed and stored in an attic. But it's there. I wonder if a call for help over the national news programs like Good Morning America would produce any results. Someone who quit watching years ago is getting ready for work, and they see the TV and go "Lost episodes? Hey, I've got that tape in the den!" Hope springs eternal.

A full page ad in a major Minneapolis Paper with a nice reward prize might flush it into the open. You'd probably get a lot of junk, but then again, it just might work.

Didn't they offer a substantial reward for lost episodes in that ad? I seem to remember that campaign.
