I don't think Jim ever said he intended to put the KTMAs on DVD (I could be wrong). He did say that clips would probably be used on his website. That may be the best we'll ever get.
The pilot not showing up really surprises me. They used short clips from it during the three part documentary so why not just show it all. At least we have a fairly clean copy of it.

Joel released the pilot (presumably with Jim's blessing) He didn't, that's why it was a filmed copy rather than a direct copy.

Sorry I guess I managed to blend two different topics here with the KTMA. Mallon only said that he would *possibly* be posting some clips to mst3k.com, as far as I know he didn't suggest anything about putting any KTMA material on DVD. The Shout! Factory thing just is claiming that people from BBI are still holding out in any interest in allowing the KTMAs to be released on DVD. In all likelihood whatever clips do show up on mst3k.com will probably be the best we're going to get any time in the near future. The pilot not showing up really surprises me. They used short clips from it during the three part documentary so why not just show it all. At least we have a fairly clean copy of it. B. Ward previously also said that BBI provided them with a complete DVD copy of the pilot a considerable time before Joel showed it at either convention, which seems to suggest at least at one point they were thinking about doing something with it on DVD. I suppose it's possible that he ended up showing it at the conventions instead of anything involving a DVD was due to someone at BBI not wanting it to be released. Joel released the pilot (presumably with Jim's blessing) He didn't, that's why it was a filmed copy rather than a direct copy. It doesn't really matter much but I wonder if anyone at BBI and/or Shout! Factory realize that we have that copy of the pilot online. I know that Tarantulas got official permission to record it, but did he get permission to post it? I'm guessing that nobody at either of those companies would have much reason to search for MST3K torrents. One other thing I just realized is that B. Ward's post I copied was actually talking about the 20th Anniversary Edition, not Volume XIV (the previously released DVD, not the upcoming one) meaning whatever conversations he's referring to happened quite a while ago and there's at least some chance that opinions have changed since then.

Newest MST3K.com newsletter Hinky dinky parlez vous...if you haven’t seen the “United Servo Academy Men’s Chorus” host segment lately, bop over to Gypsy’s Drive In, ‘cuz we’re premiering a cool navy tee shirt to commemorate the legendary Kevin Murphy/Jef Maynard teamwork on this skit. Also, we’re rolling out a set of 5 x 7 “Mini Posters” from the archives. Coming soon to mst3k.com is a MST3K Genesis page, featuring clips, photos and memoirs from KTMA and Season 1. This spring, look for yet another Shout! Volume (Volume 15), with four more titles: Racket Girls (616), Zombie Nightmare (604), Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy (102), and The Girl in Lover’s Lane (509). Hopefully that "Genesis" page is really coming soon, unlike the KTMA clips they mentioned back in November. And double hopefully it'll be different from whatever the "Glimpses of KTMA" DVD feature will be.

Newest MST3K.com newsletter At long last, love! The MST3K Genesis page has joined www.mst3k.com. Check in for a look at early studio shots from the KTMA-Season 1 years and crazy host segments from episodes like KTMA-2: The Revenge of the Mysterians. Jim Mallon has been busy mining his brain of KTMA memories and the birth of MST3K: click on the Memoirs Book for Part One, which includes a, well, off-the-wall KTMA video called “The Wall” from Kevin (Tom Servo) Murphy and Jim in days prior to MST3K. Over in da store, Shout Factory’s Volume 15--Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy -(102), The Girl in Lovers’ Lane (509), Zombie Nightmare (604) and Racket Girls (616)--is now for sale. The new United Servo Academy Men’s Chorus tee continues to rack up sales, and some of the scarce items in Gypsy’s Basement might be disappearing for good this summer--so grab ‘em while you can! Watch for a most special Shout! Volume (16) this fall. Meanwhile, enjoy the summer months, and we hope you include a little MST3K in your plans. Buh-bye. About time ;D Only was about 4 months since announcement. Actually what's up is pretty cool. Apparently Servo wasn't in K01, and his voice seems to be going through development until his post-puberty voice in K06.

There's a clip from K03 as well. There's one theater clip from each of the first three, one host segment from K01, and two host segments for the remaining two. All of these host segments are new My favorite part is how you can see shadows in the background to the right of Joel during all of them... Real high budget show There's also a host segment from 102 and in the write up you can see another piece by Jim Mallon and Kevin Murphy's for KTMA.

You know, I'm pretty sure I signed up for that newsletter but I don't remember ever receiving one. May have to go sign up again, just to make sure.
And it's great to hear they're getting some of those rare clips up. I don't have high speed Internet access here or I'd be checking them out right now.

Where is the obsessiveness! I want host and theater segment timing speculation! One of the "Star Force" clips is clearly the post-credits intro segment, and all of the clips so far end in Movie Sign.

I agree, there really hasn't been too much excitement over here about this. We do have the opening host segment for K02 on the Scrapbook tape, as well as what may be the end segment for K03 since it doesn't end with "movie sign." The nunclucks segment appears to be the opening segment for K03 since they announce the movie and they have a commercial. The drugs segment probably is the 3rd since they're talking about what happened in the movie, and they have movie sign.
K02 has no real clues about where the host segments go... As for the K01 clip I'd guess it's the first host segment since assuming it follow the same story as the pilot that sick flower sets up the rest of the episode.
Also one other thing I just realize about the pilot is that Joel addresses the "People of Earth." This seems to suggest that at least for this episode they kept the original story where Joel was an alien trying to learn about Earth, as used in the pilot.
I have no clue about where the theater segments go, I've never seen any of the movies.

I think this is fantastic. The clips Jim added answer some big questions I had, especially about who was in the theater. Any way, here is my updated Missing Episode page: www.mst3ktemple.com/ouch1.htmlThis may help satisfy those obsessive cravings for a little while.

So Gypsy was "Gypsum" for the first few episodes and Tom was still Beeper.
When did we get the theme song?
