Those duplicate episodes could make nice Christmas gifts...

re: the Rhino response, that really sucks. They've thrown Manos onto a single and multi-movie compilation before, so why the hesitation now?
That said, since I couldn't get in on Vol. 10 the first time, I'll suck it up and get 10.2 the day it's released. I'm just glad I was at least able to rent the first Vol 10; didn't have $200 to throw at a DVD set.

And btw... Shouldn't the release be called 10.1 and not 10.2? Yeah, it should. Being a programmer, I had a minor tic when I first read it.

I got the same canned response: "This title is tentatively scheduled for a February 2008 release. There are no current plans for any single disc releases from this title, but thanks for your input. I'll forward your letter to our suggestion box."
It's too bad they are rewarding those of who were the first to buy the new release in this way. All I can hope is that there will be a groundswell of angry customers who will convince them how far up their rectum their heads have traveled. It worked for the Killer Shrews disc - it could work here...

I suggest informing them that you will purchase no more Rhino products until the situation is remedied. Actually stick with it, too, folks... the worst case scenario is that we can get the episodes from Skyroniter and Cheepnis, and at a fraction of the cost.

Seeing as Rhino made the fixed KILLER SHREWS disc available... I think there's a chance we'll be able to get GILA MONSTER by itself.
However, I do admire them putting the crown jewel of extras... Joel, Trace and Josh... to tempt MSTies to re-buy the set. It's so EVIL!

I already have Season Ten and the Giant Gilla monster via Cheepins, so I am not THAT bummed out.
I applaud Rhino for finding out a way to re-release volume ten for those who did not get a chance to get it. But to say "sorry, we have no plans to put out The Gila Monster as a single DVD" is a crappy thing to do to their fans. All that does is encourage bootlegging. No way people double dip on box sets.
To ignore the rabid fans who already stepped up to the plate and got Volume ten as soon as it came out does not sit right with me.

just was thinking, surely putting out the box set and a single disc version of Gila would maximise profits. Anyone who didn't get Volume 10 first time I'd imagine would buy 10.2 for all of the episodes on it and those of us (me included) who did get it would buy the single disc so as not to have duplicates. At the moment the consensus appears to be that those already with the set will not be buying a second one, and even if there are many who would buy it again i'd imagine ALL of them would buy the single disc given the choice. I'm going to email Rhino as well, we all should until they hopefully cave in on this. drrhino@rhino.com

Fingers crossed it's right, I got it from the comments section of SN. Looking back it appears to be the same one I used to get my Shrews replacement disc and got responses then.
I've just emailed them:
I felt the need to get in contact about this future release as I already own Volume 10 and would like to own Giant Gila Monster as a separate disc. The reason for this is that to import another boxset, of which I already own three discs, to Britain would be a great expense to me. I am willing to pay for a single disc release of this episode, like what you did with Red Zone Cuba, Mitchell etc., even if it does just come in a paper envelope. From reading the MST3K Discussion Board and Satellite News it is clear that there will be many other fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 who feel the same about paying for another set. There is even talk of boycotting Rhino MST3K products which would be a shame as you have done a good job so far of releasing this show and would like to see it continue to sell well enough for you to continue releasing it.
Thanks for your time.
No doubt my plea will be met with the same automated message, if at all!

Count me in with those who will stop buying Rhino MST3K releases should Gila not be released individually. I love the show as much as anyone, have every Rhino release to date, but not enough to get screwed around...
