Legend Films is releasing The Deadly Bees and Phase IV on DVD this spring as per DVD Drive In. Sounds cool. Wonder if Shout can team up with them to deliver the MSTied version on a future box set. "Have you seen the dog's meat?" Here's the link: www.dvddrive-in.com/index.htm

WOW! That's incredibly surprising news... I didn't think Paramount would ever license catalog titles to a company like Legend films. This could be a VERY good sign for MST3k!

More fodder for your ever expanding "Likehood of Rhino/Shout Releases" list.

I wonder if they'll have Mike Nelson commentary tracks like so many of the other legend releases...

I wonder if they'll have Mike Nelson commentary tracks like so many of the other legend releases... I doubt it... it looks like Legend is trying to break in to the licensed movie market. I think the Mike Nelson commentaries were more of an extra selling point for when they were just releasing PD movies.

Phase IV as a stand alone movie has a few fans on here if I'm not mistaken. Interesting little movie in my opinion. Not great but you can tell that in the early days they just picked a random movie without watching it first as I doubt they would have done it.

Yeah, I like Phase IV. It's not perfect, but it has a lot of neat ideas, which makes up for its slow, sometimes close to boring pace. I'll probably buy it, if it's cheap enough.

Which frankly is a bad decision. It is not, however, our decision. The licensing terms of the deal with Paramount make the on DVD commentary trax a no go. I don't know much about this project, but I don't believe it rules out the possibility of Riffs on these movies, be they standard RiffTrax, or on-demand.

What I meant to say is that if Legend wanted to do on disc Trax for these films and Paramount's licensing team said no then it was a bad decision on Paramount's part....

PhaseIV...finally. No one should feel shame for liking that film. I think it was one of the best movies ever MSTied. Heck, because of the KTMA tape, I discovered that one and it's gone on to be one of my favorites. No, it's not flawless, but it's a really good piece of intelligent sci-fi that stands up well to repeated viewings.

I was SO happy to find that Legend put out The Pied Piper (starring my idol Donovan). That was a total surprise!

That was the first KTMA episode I had ever seen, and I ended up watching it with a crazy fascination. Not only was it interesting for the MST3K history, but the movie really did draw me in. It does get a little slow, but it's a mesmerizing slow. Anyway, I wouldn't mind picking this up.

I have a movie review site (www.thevideovacuum.com) and Legend was good enough to send me a boxful of screeners so when I publish the reviews, I'll post the links here for anyone interested.
