So sad to see MST finish its 15 year run, but I must rise above it to continue the game!
Here are the rules again:
You watch SCREAMING SKULL with short: ROBOT RUMPUS, or you remember it from last time, whatever.
You rate said episode using a 1 to 10 rating. 1 being, "This episode totally sucks! It is so bad it physically hurt me!" and 10 being "This episode is by far one of the best in MST history, I will show it to my non MST friends because if any episode would convert them into a fan, this one would probably work!"
Then you tell me and everyone watching why the episode got that rating.
Also, I like to rate the short, movie and overall episode in three different numbers, but you don't have to if you don't want to.
I'll go first: ROBOT RUMPUS: Best. Short. Ever. At least in my opinion it is, I used to watch Gumby as a young lad, so to see Mike and the bots take a stab at it is quite awesome. Thus, my favorite short ever. 10 out of 10. SCREAMING SKULL: A good episode considering how boring the movie is, a lot of good riffs, especially towards the beginning where Rev. Snow and Jenny were discussing how Eric's first wife died ("It was raining" "And he shot her"). But the movie is just too slow moving and boring, not a flaw of the fine people at MST, just not an ideal movie. Still, if you can stay awake, its pretty darn good. Host segments were good too. 7 out of 10. OVER ALL GRADE, of course, this is an average of short to episode, which is a respectable 8 out of 10.
See? Easy!
Have fun, also, since there is no set schedule for MST anymore, I'll be announcing next week's game's episode in the previous game post. I pick, PARTS: THE CLONUS HORROR. See you there!

Short, 7. It's pretty funny, but it's not my favorite short ever. There's quite a few others I'd have to put ahead of it. Movie, also 7. I like the movie (I have unmsted even). It is slower than molasses and I like how especially Crow calls the movie on it. There's a lot of funny riffs and to me is an overall good solid episode. Not having had satellite for a few years now, I haven't had to suffer the constant repeats of it that a lot of other people have which could also tarnish it. I also liked the host segments, which is rare for me.

I'd give the short a 9, and the film an 8.
Robot Rumpus: Very funny. I always thought Gumby was lame, so it was funny to see them beat the crap out of it. What I thought was unique about it was how Crow and Servo made those comments about watching the robots getting mangled. Sometimes you can forget that Crow and Tom are supposed to be robots, so that gives the writers a different element to think about than the usual riffing material.
Screaming Skull: This episode gets beaten up a lot, and I don't think it's entirely justified. Sure the movie was slower than molasses, but it wasn't as lame as "Hamlet". The riffing was pretty great, considering what the movie gave them. They made fun of Mickey, but not so much that "Micky jokes" took up the show. I thought they did a good job filling up the long, drawn out parts with clever, non-repetitive riffs. All in all, pretty good, if you can handle the slow, boring pace of the film.

Robot Rumpus = 9
Screaming Skull = 2
Robot Rumpus was hilarious. I laugh everytime I see it. From the internal genitalia to the squared breasts my eyes were tearing up. Some classic comedy.
The Screaming Skull was incredible. Incredibly horrifying. I have never in my life came so close to falling asleep in the middle of a show. Thirty minutes of that movie had to be a close up of that woman's face with whatever emotion you would call what she splashed across her face. She constantly looked like a dog that just turns it's head and stares at something it could never hope to understand. I felt exactly what Crow said, "Can we help you movie lady? Do you need a push or something?"
Overall 5, if not for the short, I'd never watch this episode again.

Screaming Skull I have to say is one of my favorites of the final years eps.
Robot Rumpus - an 8. Very hilarious, and I love it because I remember it from when I was little. I wish they had done more because Gumby was just so badly done.
Screaming Skull - a 6. I have to say, the woman is the weak link here, as she was in Space Children - there's something about her that just says "I need resuscitation!". Imagine her acting against the lead guy in She Creature - a whole lotta non-action going on then! But I love the movie - it's the kind of movie that would have completely freaked me out as a kid, and I think the reverend and his wife are pretty funny, and who can't love the lovably creepy Mickey the Gardner! I think the skeleton in the dress at the end is hilarious.

I'll give Robot Rumpus an eight. It's nice, but I've always preferred A Case Of Spring Fever and other similar industrial shorts. Considering it's a cartoon, though, it was great.
Screaming Skull: 9. I love this episode, to tell you the truth. They suffer with you while the movie tries to be suspenseful.
"I think we've established the mood. Let's see a little plot now." "It's like they've got two servings of tension that they're trying to stretch out for seven people!"

So, a 7 out of 10, Torgo?
I don't mean to be snotty, but I would prefer if everyone use the same rating.
Don't be mad, please? Please?

Short: 8 - It's not my favorite short, but it is right up there with the best of 'em.
Movie: 7 - While there are some pretty good riffs in it (everyone knows it's Slinkskull), it's just too slow moving (though not as bad as Hamlet). I definitely wouldn't show this episode as a first to expose someone to the show, but it is watchable.
I know we aren't rating the skits, but I think this episode has some pretty good ones. Mainly, Tom's prank trying to get a free coffin and the screaming Crow skit.

Solid ep. The gumby short was dark and delightful, but the movie made me want to kill myself. 10 for the short but 4 for the movie, giving it a 7 over all.

To TurkeyVolGuessnMan:
The host segments are sort of figured into the actual movie, so add them to your rating as you deem fit. The idea of rating the short seperately comes from the fact that they're so popular that Rhino puts them into volumes. A average episode could have a completely awesome short (i.e. THE ATOMIC BRAIN), thats why I choose to rate them seperately.
But please, if you want to talk about the host segments in your rating, go ahead, its part of the episode, after all. And they did have good host segments in SCREAMING SKULL, especially the whole "Servo orders the coffing" thingy, that was great.

I would give Robot Rumpus a 9. What a hoot! It is only second to Mr. B Natural as my favorite MST3K short. I must confess I actually had to watch Mr.B Natural in grade school when they were recruiting for the junior high school band. Me and a friend of mine had to go to the principles office because we were laughing during the show. The band teacher didn't think it was funny. Sheesh. I would give Screaming Skull a solid 8. I have always had a deep affection for the movies I watched on "Shock Theater" when I was a kid and could stay up late on Saturday night to watch the late night horror shows. This type of show had many names in many different markets. It ususally came on after the news on Saturday night and featured really bad local talent in awful costumes making stupid jokes between the movie and cheesy locally produced ads. These movies are my most beloved of any the MST3K crew did.

I'll give Robot Rumpus and the movie both a 7. Very enjoyable but not among the best. I'd definatley watch it again. I think it repeats well.
