Survey du jour asks this time around... Which MiSTed films from the KTMA season definitely did not stand up to the test of time? Some film that seems incredibly dated now, although when it was released, it was pretty current with what was going on. My picks are: 1. The whole Gamera series (Gamera, Gamera vs. Baurgon, etc.) 2. Phase IV 3. SST Death Flight 4. Superdome 5. The Last Chase
So which films do you pick?
Next time: Season 1!

The one that is the most incomprehensible and probably related to some sort of eastern block 1960's psychedelic trip is "Huminoid Woman" What kind of trip was the director on? A chicken's head bobbing in the toilet for 2 hours would have as much meaning as this film nowdays. In the Sixties I bet lots of stoners were sitting around for hours discussing the "meaning" of this film and its import for the future.
Blech.

The thing is, Sandy Frank made a mess of it. There's a different version of it out that's a whole lot better. Proof here.TEXTTEXT

Superdome and Phase IV come to mind immediately. I have all the KTMA's but have yet to watch them all. They tend to give me headaches. The Million Eyes of Su-Muru is horrible as well.
Frankie Avalon. Blech!

Phase IV was a pretty fun SciFi flick.

Oh, I think it's the Last Chase. Remember when the whole country was fixated on the "energy crisis?" Now we're fixated on buying SUVs, the bigger the better.

I think that City on Fire, SST Death Flight and Superdome all reek of the 1970s.
Although, Superdome is one that could be remade today without losing too much relevancy. Star athletes addicted to drugs, losing their marriages, and getting trapped in gambling debts, all while reporters climb all over each other for the big scoop? I say let's remake it today on ESPN. We'll call it Playmakers. It'll be huge.
