Instead of making a new thread for every announcement, I'm just going to post it all here. Mighty Jacks MST3K ReviewToday I created a new banner for the main page (with a mini M.J TV slideshow) Other additions include "Memorable Characters" on the "Who's Who" drop down menu and a review for "NOTLD" in the Special etc link on the left hand menu.

I agree, in everything I've seen Kevin do, I've liked him. In his and Mikes interview on the DVD, he came off very fun and friendly.
But he does that movie review thing and he becomes a whiny snob who attacks everyoe and everything. I just avoid him on NPR or his reviews on the Film Crew.
Apart from that I like the guy.

One strange side note: because of Mike, this was the 3rd and 4th times I've seen NOTLD. And while I wasn't laughing, I found myself actually getting into the movie. I'm pretty stubbord about changing my mind with movies, but despite some of the bad dialog and over acting. I found that I was enjoying the film (except for the eating of the bright neon red people meat. Yuk!)
Weird, because the last time I watched this DVD I could hardly concentrate on the flick and just wanted it to hurry up and end.

I've added a fuller look at my favorite seasons in page 2 of the "Coily Awards" (The front page has a direct link to it, and then you just scroll down past the favorite episodes list to find it)
I also have am article/list that's almost ready to go. I'm going to wait until the new box set comes out before I publish it. I'm also planning to add comments on the DVDs for each episode when I watch 'em.
I have also watched my last 2 episodes and am working on reviews. But I want to spread things out so I may hold back a month before publishing them (I did write a little bit about Mantis and Duplicators on the "I just finished watching" thread if anyones curious where I'm leaning on grades).

Added a Halloween treat, the 2 final reviews are up a day earlier than I planned.
I didn't add any DVD news to the reviews because there wasn't much to say, other than they all looked good. I did add the Rhino logo to each though, and an indication ofwhat set they are on.
I've also added a "Short look at the shorts" to the menu bar.

On the review for The Deadly Mantis you mention something like, “. . . they give life back to that old Star Trek bit. . . “ It’s Star Wars, not Star Trek. Just thought you should know before some crazed fan boy starts sending you nasty-grams. Great reviews though, I’m in complete agreement.

Star Wars? Didn't Spock say somethig like this in an original Star Trek ep, when he feels the life of (what I think were Vulcans) snuffed out in an instant?
Man I'm gonna have to check on this. I'm not much into Star Wars so I don't know where that comes from.

I'm not much into Star Wars so I don't know where that comes from. Nope. Concerning the destruction of Alderan (SP?) by The Death Star, Obi-wan says something like, “There has been a great disturbance in the force. It was as if millions of voices cried out at once, and then were suddenly silenced.” (Or something like that. Hay, I’m not that big a nerd, right?

Yup, your right. I checked on it and Spock does have a reaction when he senses a Vulcan ship and its crew all dying in an instant, but he doesn't use those words (I wonder if the Trek ep had any influence on that scene? I know Lucas took inspiration from a Kurosawa film, might he not have drawn from other things as well?).
Anyhoo - I've changed it on the review, and thanks. It's still funny the way Crow says it, even if I got the source material wrong.

Great site! One of the best I've seen for MST3K. Keep up the good work.

Mighty Jacks evil twin here...
I grabbed a stack of books at the library (including one on John Carradine's career) and have been working on extra movie trivia for a few eps.
So far I've added to "The Unearthly", "Red Zone Cuba", "Mole People" and "Robot Monster" with more to come (as I finish up my research)
One bummer: There's a John Saxon interview in the new issue of "Filmfax" and whle it does a have a nice over-view of his career, there's not even a mention of Mitchell.
Man, and I was looking forward to seeing if he had any inside poop on the movie as my "Stuff & Nonsense" for that ep could use a boost. Ah well.
and Manos, thanks for the kind words.

It's titled, "John Carradine: The Films" by Tom Weaver and (Biography section) Gregory William Mank. And it draws from a lot of sources. Very interesting read.
Another good one is the Claudia Barrett (Robot Monster) interview I found. There's one bit I'd like to add, but I can't seem to summarize it well. It illustrates the chaos on the set. The Director was a first timer and didn't know what he was doing, so the 2 cinematographers helped him out a lot.
During the scene where she was abducted by Ro-Man, she was getting direction from 3 different people, all giving her different advice. The credited director then decides that he wants her to seduce the monster. She said that's why that whole scene was so odd, she goes from being terrified, defiant and a seductress due to all the direction she was getting at one time.
She had a good attitude about it, but she said it was too bad the producer and director didn't share that same sense of humor. They were very serious about the movie and were stung by the critisism
