Cool another writer on board. Great review othersteve, good to know there's plenty of fans out there who also happen to review DVDs. I'm guessing that after you wrote that you went looking for a MST board. Glad you found us.

Nice write up. Say, on the Assignment Venezuela short, did it still have the time code on it like the BB version did?

Yep, the timecode is still there... and according to the DVD insert, that's the only version they have in the archives.
And thanks -- I'm glad to know you guys enjoyed the review! Hopefully I'll be doing more in the future.

I was watching Killer Shrews and somewhere into the episode one of the Bots says something about the ramblings of the balding scientist being provided by the narration at the beginning of the movie....only I didn't remember hearing any narration. I got online and found out that it was edited out. I also found out that a riff from The Home Economics Story was missing. I already knew about the time hiccup from a host segment in The Amazing Colossal Man and the missing stinger from Atomic Brain....not to mention that my Merlin's Shop is so damn dark I can't see Mike and the Bots through most of the movie.
Sorry I sound like such a nit-picker but I would trade every priceless artifact of the ancient world for flawless digital issues of MST3K. This show is too important and special to accept anything less. Every nano second of MST deserves top notch perfection! We should petition Rhino to release a "patch job volume set" with the errors corrected and in the future take a little more time to make sure the job is done right before going to the mass production phase. When I see a class act show like this get second rate treatment....that's when I know what DEEP HURTING is all about!

I really wish that Best Brains would look into doing season sets . I think there would have to be one episode on each side of the DVD's in the season sets. Otherwise the cost would be through the roof.

Two episodes on each side of the six DVD's. If the cost would be say $100.00 ish that would be okay. Every episode would be digitally flawless. If they want to do extras I think that a poopie reel for each episode would be great. There has to be more of that stuff at BBI. The MST commercials that aired on CC/SCI-FI would be good too. Or how about this idea. Mike could do running commentary over their running commentary in the show. lol. I would like to see more original movie trailers too. Thank you and...good night.

I also remember in 'LASERBLAST' Mike making a reference to the movie 'THIS ISLAND EARTH' which we all know was riffed on in 'MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 THE MOVIE'

I hate to bump a thread, but this caught my eye. I distinctly recall reading somewhere that a DVD can store up to six hours of video footage. Since each episode of MST3K is an hour and a half long without commercials, that equals four episodes that can go on a one-sided disc, maximum. Of course, that wouldn't leave much room for extras, but add a seventh disc and you're all set! Granted, the cost of such a set would likely be in the low hundreds, but it'd be worth it in my eyes. As for extras, a Poopie reel for every episode wouldn't be very feasible, as not every outtake is all that funny (I'm guessing the best stuff has already been put on the two existing Poopie reels). And I like the commercials idea, but providing audio commentary for the show seems kinda arbitrary.

I agree. Audio commentary would be very odd for a show that already has commentary. And yes, we can only wait. And wait.

And wait . . .
Of course, I couldn't afford it even if they did make full season DVD sets.
It'd be cool, though . . .
