- Night of the Bloodbeast (with short: Once Upon a Hooneymoon). The film itself is a Corman movie (though he didn’t direct it, just a producer) about a monster from space that terrorizes a NASA base when it’s cut off from the outside world. About as exciting as it sounds. The short is an insane inept musical about an angel who helps a couple get on their way to their honeymoon (it’s suppose to advertise phones, but a phone is shown only two times in this twenty minute debacle). A great episode. It wasn’t too esoteric or based on pop culture, in fact it was quite the opposite. This riffs in this one were rather pedestrian (in a good way). There are two version of host segments. The first, was done for Turkey Day 1995 and had Dr. F having guests over including his mother while he was trying to take over the world. The second batch are regular host segments with Dr. F and his mother as the new mads. The first ones are really great, especially if you watch the Turkey Day bumpers before them. The second batch aren’t so good, as typical with the Dr. F-Pearl connection era. However this is still one of the best episodes of the series with the Turkey Day segments. ***** [S: *****, F: *****]
- The Brute Man (with short: Chicken of Tomorrow). The movie is about The Creeper (The Brute Man), a deformed man who goes on a killing spree for people who have wrong him in the past and people who get in his way. He befriends a blind girl along the way. Dark, dreary, almost depressing movie with no real likeable characters, however it’s not as bad as some of the stuff seen on MST3K. The short is about advancements being made in the chicken producing industry. The work on the short itself is done really well, typical for MST3K up to this point. The feature film gives Mike and the bots a lot to work with, including unintentionally funny scenes (that at one point has Mike doubled over laughing). However, Mike and the bots still take it to the next level, and have fun with the movie. The host segments are passable. Another awesome episode from season seven. ***** [S: *****, F: *****]
- Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell. The feature is a sword and sorcery flick about a jerk named Deathstalker. He's on some sort of journey, and his chief antagonist is possibly the lamest villain of all time: a middle aged, balding asshat who wears short skirts. The episode is good, but not nowhere near perfect. Overrated by many in my opinion. The host segments are rather bad, especially the ones featuring Mary Jo Pehl yelling “CLAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYTTTTTOOOOON” over and over. The exception is the spoofing of Renaissance Festivals which was was darn good. In the theater, they are okay, but nothing special. A slightly overrated, but good episode. ***
- The Incredible Melting Man. This movie is about a man who comes back from space and begins to melt then goes on a killing spree. Probably one of the worst and most disgusting movies ever to appear on MST3K. However the crew do a great job with what they are given. The host segments are actually really good as they’re about Crow’s screenplay Earth vs. Soup being made into a movie. The Forresters parody movie executives by being too important for the movie, carrying bottled water with them everywhere, and not understanding the concept of making a movie. This is all a parody of what Best Brains went through with Universal Pictures. All in all another very good episode from season seven. ****
- Escape 2000. Post-Apocalyptic Italian movie about a big evil corporation forcing people out of the Bronx (due to the crimes & gangs) and the people who fight them (because they’re criminals and part of gangs, but OUR heroes). You want crap? You got it! Absolutely terrible cheesy 80s movie. While it’s cheesy, again Mike and the bots do take it to another level. The riffing starts slow, but picks up by the end. The host segments are almost all crap, foreshadowing season eight, but Mike as Toblerone (making his last appearance as anyone but Mike, which is a HUGE reason the Sci-Fi era host segments stunk) is funny for the few seconds he’s on the screen. Very good episode, but with a few flaws. ****1/2
- Laserblast. Final episode of MST3K to air on Comedy Central and the final episode to feature Trace Beaulieu as the voice of Crow T. Robot and the role of Dr. Clayton Forrester. The movie is about a teen boy who finds an alien weapon in the desert and begins to transform into a killing beast. Features Eddie Deezan. Pretty bad movie, which received two and half stars from Leonard Maltin. The episode itself is very good. The riffing is good, though not quite as good as some other episodes this season. The host segments end on a cliffhanger as the Brains didn’t know if they were getting renewed or not. Also they didn’t know who would be back. If they didn’t get renewed (which they didn’t) they promised to do at least one more direct to video episode or start on another network (which they did) to properly conclude the series. So these host segments serve their purpose well as a bridge to wherever MST3K was going. Almost a depressing ending. A very good conclusion to the Comedy Central era. Farewell Trace. ****1/2
