Blue Velvet. It still packs a punch.
(Haven't seen Eraserhead in years. That should be viewed at a midnight showing with an audience.)

Eraserhead. I saw it at a midnight viewing when I was seventeen and it has been my favorite movie ever since.

From what I've seen (Blue Velvet; Twin Peaks; The Elephant Man; Wild at Heart) I think The Elephant Man wins for me. It's such a beautiful movie really. I just saw Twin Peaks two nights ago for the first time. Had me on edge the whole way, such a surreal movie. Like a nightmare or a bad trip with heavy doses of symbolism. Give me...your pain and sorrow...*blood splat*. I like Blue Velvet a lot too MOMMY!!! hahah so f*&^ed up. The tension in the latter two is so precise, Lynch really is of the best talents that I've ever seen with tension and suspense. And it almost always is based on things you don't quite understand. I think that's where much of the tension itself comes from....the ....unknown woooooOOOooooo. Wild at Heart is superbly acted just a bit messy of a movie. Kinda teetered on the edge of reality and surrealness but it still worked enough to be entertaining and memorable.
