I've always wondered about two ideas that were cut from Dr. Strangelove and would it have made the film even better or worse.
1) Originally Peter Sellers as the Merkin Muffley character was to have a cold during the movie. However he kept on cracking up the crew and cast during it that it had to be cut. 2) The ending is one common complaint about Dr. Strangelove in how it's somewhat anti-climatic. The reason for this is that there was suppose to be a gigantic pie fight at the end of the film. However, Kubrick cut this for a reason I can't remember (Stevearino help me out here!).
So do you think these things would have helped or hurt the film in the long run. Even minutely. Or would things have been a rather lateral move.

I like it the way it is. LOL I just watched it again on TCM this morning! Kubrick said that he likes the "anti-climax" at the end of movies. However, I think that the nukes going off with "We'll Meet Again..." was a great final touch to the film. No, you're wrong VH on #1. Kubrick didn't cut the having a cold, upbeat version of Muffley because he made the cast laugh (although that part is true that he made the cast laugh). He cut it out because he decided that the president must be the only sane man in the war room. Alright, I'm getting this from IMDb trivia, GIVE ME BREAK! I think Ebert, has an INTERESTING idea, which is what got me thinking at first, that it should have ended with first Strangelove's 10 women to every man idea, Slim Pickins riding the Bomb down, and then gone to "We'll Meet Again." It absolutely had to end on the song. I LOVE the movie too. I think it's better the way it is. I think this will drum up some good conversation though. I just finished watching it on TCM too. Great minds....

I'm amazed how stuff about Kubrick always comes out wrong! Even on TCM, all the reasons that host guy listed for Sellers not playing four roles was wrong. Tell me more.
