I saw this movie, and I loved it.
Plus, I have to slightly disagree with the idea that they are insulting geeks. He comes off as a sweet guy who is a bit smarter than most of the "cool" guys around him.
It is crass humor, but it has some great performances, great writing, some funny improv, and a lot of sweetness. A pretty original idea. I was delighted.

Just saw this (and "Wedding Crashers"). Mrs. Shep and I caught them at a late-night drive-in double feature for super cheap. Both enjoyable, but especially liked "40 Year Old Virgin." I used to have that Iron Man doll.

I enjoyed it. But after hearing about that damn poster so much, I was disappointed at the one shot it got. The freakin Aqua Man action figure got more air time than that poster.
And as for geek/nerd-dom, that first shot of his room, my roommate goes "Aw, is that all your online nerdies?". Damn straight, I want that room!

I thought it was hilarious. We saw it on Sunday, and I had a feeling I wouldn't like it, but I ended up loving it. I haven't seen a comedy that made me laugh that hard in a long time so it lived up to its hype, which is very rare nowadays.
My favorite part of the entire movie is when he was getting his "Teen Wolf" chest waxed. For those of you who don't know, that was REAL. My wife said it had to be real to me in the theater and when I checked up on that on IMDB.com sure enough, it was! Steve said it wouldn't be nearly as funny if they were faking it. You can tell the other actors were laughing their asses off for real too. Great scene!
By the way, the MST3K movie poster didn't offend me in the least. If I'm a geek for liking the show, so be it. I'm not ashamed of anything I love!

SPOILERS
This was a great movie and the MST 3K poster was a nice touch. And in the end, he got the girl, so everything worked out okay.
When giving the ending to a movie, please put spoilers at the top.
