Good Will Hunting made me want to destroy my soul. Oh mummi, it's not your fault....it's not your fault. You can let it out...it's not your fault.

I love this thread. Here are the following movies that piss me off.
West Side Story Mighty Joe Young 1998 The Phantom Menace Batman and Robin Life is Beautiful E.T. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes The Rush Hour movies
But the movie that pissed me off the most was "Newsies" my music teacher in Junior High used to make us watch this piece of crap literally EVERY FREAKING MONTH! I think it was about the eighth time she made us watch where (This is true) I got on my knees and begged her not to put it on. She called me a child and told me if I did not sit down she was going to call my parents... so I sat down. About five or ten minutes into the movie I stood up walked to the tv ripped this godawful pile of crap out of the VCR and proceeded to stomp this movie back to Hades where it must have come from. And you know what... I'M GLAD I DID IT GLAD! It was sooooooo worth it! I didn't have to hear Christian Bale sing. Man, who would ever have thought this guy would play Batman.

For me it was Napoleon Dynamite. I didn't find this movie funny in the least. I was turned off by it from the beginning because nothing makes sense and everybody is crazy/retarded and there's absolutely no explanation given for it! I'll also throw in to this category anything by David Lynch, Blade Trinity, Closer, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Alone in the Dark and Dude Where's my Car

Hey Nerdie, you forgot Spinal Tap. And I can't believe I did. Seriously, what the crap. I have yet to meet ONE person other than me and my roomie that hated this movie. Even disliked it slightly! We thought it was so frickin boring. I can't stand talkign to people about this movie, all the shock and awe and questioning if I truly "got the subtle humor". Enraging. Usually I just butt in and say I've never seen Star Wars so they get on a different rant. (I've seen most of the original and most of Episode 1, both super duperly overrated in my opinion) And I finally remembered the one I was screaming at to end. It was Closer. My GOD that was one horrible horrible HORRIBLE movie. Not only did it refuse to end, it refused to have a freakin point. Wow, people screw around and break up...uh huh...still waiting for this movie to not bore me to tears. Just terrible. Dammit now that I went off on those rants I forgot the others I was going to mention. Stupid rage.

It's okay. I guess Spinal Tap was too subtle.

By the way, add Simon Birch to my list. Why is it that filmmakers think the more retarded, short, disgusting and er - unique somebody is the more sympathy the audience will have for them. If a dirty talking, know-it-all midget kid killed my mother with a baseball I wouldn't be too quick to forgive him, I'll tell you that much. You can blame John Irving for this one. It wasn't the filmmaker's fault. Simon Birch was a movie version of Irving's overrated pile, "A Prayer for Owen Meany".

Now, I thoroughly enjoyed most of "2001" and loved all of "A Clockwork Orange". You're missing my point. I'm not saying these movies are bad or that they make me angry. It's that the fan base of certain movies is so rabid and obnoxious that you avoid the movies on general principle. I think most of us have movies that would fall into this category. It's why Nerdie won't watch "Spinal Tap" again; it's why many people avoid Monty Python; it's why lots of people were turned off by the Lord of the Rings movies- all great movies, in my opinion. But it's also why I don't have any interest in "2001" or "ACO"- I've seen them both and was ambivalent about them, but I'm tired of being told how brilliant they are-- and no, it's not just Forrest. Good post, you can't be a Star Trek fan without being considered a nerd anymore. You can't throughly enjoy a sci-fi show I guess.

Wait, is that the one with the little that saves dies saving some kids from a sinking bus? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else.

I personally like to watch movies to escape reality for a couple of hours. Kepp in mind I do NOT need a sappy, syrupy, cute happy ending to a movie but I fail to see the point of making film for the sole purpose of depressing the living crap out of people. There are many that fall into this category for me but the one that I have seen recently is Ladder 49. Yes I know the reality of the dangers of firefighting, Two of my best friends here are firefighters. But to make this entire about the life and career of Joaquin Phoenix's character only to pointlessly kill him at end....I hate sh*t like that.
On the other hand, similar genre, I liked Backdraft and almost everyone dies at the end of that but there seemed to be purpose and resolution to the story....does that make any sense whatsoever?

bah, speaking of endings, almost forgot Secret Window. A movie that goes on and on about how important a movie's ending is, then has the stupidest excuse for an ending.
On that note I also hate Fight Club, I felt ripped off.

Any Given Sunday - My friend (who is a huge football fan) and I walked out of the theater.
The X-Men movies are starting to piss me off.
Batman Forever (they started losing focus)
Batman and Robin (focus lost!)
Lost In Space (Hey look at the cool new camera trick the Matrix did! Let's base an entire movie on JUST THAT... and maybe a TV show...)
Punch Drunk Love (Not a lot of people agree with me, but it was a mind numbing experience for me.)
Pearl Harbor, etc. ("Why does Micheal Bay keep on making movies?")
All of those romantic comedies my wife keeps renting like lucky 7, sweet home Alabama, the wedding date... (Honey!, C'mon! It's the same damn movie that they make every year! Only the characters have changed!)
And my mind has frozen up and I can't think of others.
