Maybe there IS a god. EDIT: But of course there's always got to be a schtup in the back from Lucas....it's only going to be for sale for four months. What an asshole.

I saw that in the news today. I can only hope it's not some sort of cruel joke.

I guess that's good news, but Lucas is still a putz. Think I'll just stick with the vhs I bought years ago.

Now I can finally have it on DVD! The VHS versions I have of the three movies are getting a bit worn.

My copies of the originals are on 12" laser. But I don't have a player.
I just hope they don't under-produce copies like the idiot game system makers do with their new systems.

I've got the original trilogy on VHS. Frankly it's alright but I loved the Special Editions. I'll probably grab myself the DVDs of them once they release these new versions and drive the prices down.

I also have the trilogy on VHS. I can't wait to reserve a copy of the DVD's though. I hope that they will be unaltered and just like they were originally.

You know of course that Lucas claimed in an interview for the release of Phantom Empire that while Star Wars still existed unaltered - due to it's inclusion in the Library of Congress before RotJ was even made - the other two films no longer existed as originally released....
Once again, Lucas talking out of both sides of his ass?

Maybe I'm the only guy slightly pissed about this. Even though the original releases are FAR superior, I already bought the crappified version! I don't want to have to buy this set again. I get the distinct feeling that this "good" version was planned long, long ago and is only being announced now for the purpose of double dipping. Well, I'm not biting.

I dunno, imdb said that the newest versions would be included with the original ones. That seems odd if they expected you to have bought the new ones already. Also, I suspect they are more expensive that way.

Also, I suspect they are more expensive that way. That just strikes me as even more annoying. Most people who care about Star Wars have bought the latest releases. It appears this is just calling for them to spend more money. Call me paranoid, cynical, bitter, or whatever. God knows I am all of those things. You can call me stupid too, but that I won't admit to so easily. Fact is, I'm disappointed that this is happening after the crappified versions were already forced upon us when it looked like the originals would never again see the light of day.

If they did this three years ago I would have cared, but the damage has been done now.

I was, however, too cheap to buy the dvd's already. Will I spend the cash this time? I don't know.
