I saw this yesterday before the Super Bowl. In my opinon this movie could lose a good hour of film and not even touch one single plot line or special effect. There were times, especially during the close ups that I was actually making the "hurry it up" sign with my fingers. "OK! The monkey and the girl like each other, we get it!" This movie could have been great, but lost it in the editing room. There are parts of the movie that are a lot of fun and Kong himself is a real tour de force in filmaking magic. His fight with the T-Rex's is imaginative, brilliant and fun to watch. However, I can't really think of a movie I was more ready to leave than this one. 187 minutes is too long to sit and watch stuff like tying up the plot lines about what happened to Jack Driscoll's play and Ann's career while Kong is busy trashing New York. It was annoying and boring. While King Kong was dying I had the image of Tom Servo down behind the styrofoam seats screaming "END! END!" in my head.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Every scene was just a little bit too long. Even the cool scene when the boat is nearly running into the rocks wore on me after a while.

An hour less would have been a big improvement. I also had some issues with the casting. Jack Black was in way over his head. A real bad choice. I also didn't like they way they changed the Jack Driscoll character into a reluctant hero. I far prefer the original character.

(I know you're just a kid and may not have seen the 33 version).
