It's a tough call. On one hand you seem to have a lot of movies that are nothing but CG explosions and no plot and of course there hasn't been a non-failed comedy in forever, but some of the greatest movies ever have just come out recently. "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy" were three of the greatest movies ever, you have "Narnia", "Batman Begins", and "Star Wars Episode III" which all rank in my top 20 or so. Plus (this may sound weird) cartoons are getting better. They are figuring out how to make kids and adults laugh, plus they are realizing it's OK to break the 60 year old Disney rules (I mean just look at "The Incredibles". Does that remind you of any other cartoon? Of course not cause they decided to leave the formula plot and get something new) I say that movies are staying just about the same.

All they are showing in theaters these days are Romance/Drama/Comedy films. Their has been so many of them in the last few years. Horror films also need to go. One horror film comes out every 2 weeks, pretty much.
Romance/Drama/Comedy and Horror films are killing the ciematic industry and movies in general. Overall, these two genres of movies need to go and since they're making more of these kind of films, the movie industry is getting worse.

when you do a Miami Vice movie starring Colin Farrell as Crockett, things are not so great.

It's hard for me to answer this because a few years ago I probably would have said "better." I really don't enjoy watching old movies that much. But nothing decent has been released in quite a while. The last movie I think I enjoyed was Kill Bill, and that was quite a while ago considering how much has come along since then. The oscars this year were a complete disgrace. I'll vote for "worse," not because I like old movies, but because I like movies from the 90s.
