Doesn't the symbiote suit not have the spider-web over the entire surface? I'm fairly sure that it's just black with the white spider on the front.

That's true, but with Hollywood you never know. They might demand the more regonizable design

That's what I thought was the most likely explanation.

This is some fan picture I found. Anyway, this film is still well over a year away... the suit can still be improved.

I'm all a twitterpated. I can't wait for this one. Black suit? Is it the symbiot that will become Venom? If so how does he get it (didn't the original come from the Crisis on Infinate Earths series?) Dude Crisis was a DC event not a Marvel one, unless I missed something and Spidey made a surprise guest appearance in that series. However I don't blame you for mixing it up with Secret Wars because sometimes I get comic crossovers confused too.

As I explained I can't remember who did what with all those 'event' series they've done over the years. But back to the flick. I'm happy with Sandman (he should look cool), and I'm glad to see Gwen. Though her story will now be dramatically different from the comics. Bryce Dallas Howard was the best thing about "The Village" and I think I'll like her much better than Kirsten 'squarehead square'- Dunts. Whose whispery, quivering vocal delivery and large skull always bugged me. lol But with all these storylines I hope they're not trying to squeeze too much into the film. Either way, I'm there on opening day.

Yeah, it was in Secret Wars a while ago when Spiderman got the black costume. It was later that they revealed that it was a Symbiote, i.e. Venom. Spidey rejected it, it found Eddie Brock, and went out to destroy the man who rejected him. Later it merged with somethin' or other and made Carnage. I never really read Ultimate Iron Man. What did they do to him? I've only seen a little of Ultimate Avengers, and he seemed okay in that. Oh I meant the regular IM - They made him a murderer. Killed him off and brought in "teen" Tony -groan- Thankfully Busiek took over and fixed that mess and restored Iron Man to his former self. Buuut, they've since reworked his orgin, supporting characters, basically wiped out his entire history and put a stranger named Tony Stark in the suit. Marvel makes me feel like an old, unwanted fan these days. Ultimates I never could get into, it always felt like "Who are these pretenders" for me. I'm sure they're good but they're not the heroes, with the same histories, I grew up with Hey, sorry to interrupt, but I don't read Marvel so I have to ask: they just did it? No explanation? Nada? Just rehashed the entire story? I mean, on the one hand it's not like DC's changes to continuity that involve a big Reality-Destroying-Force-Of-Pure-Evil that attacks about once a decade and rends the space/time continuum in such dissarray that continuity changes can happen....but on the other hand, how do you know when the changes happen? And before anyone jumps on me: I don't read DC instead of Marvel because I dislike Marvel (I'm a huge Spidey fan), I just can't afford both Universes at once, and I prefer DC just barely enough to read those instead.

Okay, this is how Spidey got Venom: Spiderman was in the 'Secret Wars' series, where there was a big fight on another planet. After that big fight, the heroes were deposited back on Earth. Spiderman was given a new costume for Secret Wars, and after returning to Earth, kept it. Later on, you learn that the suit is actually a symbiotic organism which was Venom. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venom_%28comics%29www.marveldirectory.com/individuals/v/venom.htm^ These two are actually more correct and informative ^ And Affy, I know the pain of loving both Universes. I'm a rather large Fantastic Four/Older X-Men Fan and a giant Penguin (although, he's in far too few comics for my taste) and Joker fan. But not Black Mask.... rrr... Black Mask...

The last IM I read they did just that. Poof, changed it all. Now they have a new limited series on the shelves but I'm long gone. What do the fanboys call it, a retcon or something like that. It amounts to this: Cater to the youth audiences and to hell with the old school fan. They figure the youngins might avoid a character with a long and convoluted history - so why not start from scratch and reel 'em in. In doing this they lose a few fans who were there from the start, but it seems to be acceptible losses. I don't matter to Marvel anymore.

Isn't that one of the reasons they made the ultimate Marvel line in the first place? I mean if the ultimate line is supposed to cater to people who don't want to get involved in 40 years of continuity then I think it's pointless to make changes like that to the regular Iron Man just to pull in younger readers.

My brother said Durnst spilled the beans that Topher is playing Venom, but I haven't seen any confirmation elsewhere. Then again, I saw talk of Bruce Campbell as Mysterio, so who the heck knows?

Gawd, please no. Tophers too noodly to play Venom. I usually don't get too upset about casting until I see it. But they're going to have to rewrite this character for Topher to work as Eddie Brock.
Now Bruce Campbell as Mysterio, now that's an idea I could get behind without any problem.

I WAS RIGHT! I WAS RIGHT! This is a picture some fan took in Cleveland this week... and well it looks like he's wearing the symbiote suit! He also looks like he's a jedi why I don't know.

Cool picture Ratso. I'm usually a sceptic about these sneak preview pictures, because they're usually edited, but this looks like it's real. Of course I could be wrong.
