Crosswords. Staring Rutger Houer and Josh Charles Ok for those who have never seen this flick it's pretty darn easy to sum up. Just picture Alien From L.A. with more action.. no...that's not right. Anyway this kid discovers his necklace is part of this magical dimension hopping staff. He meet smoothe chick and Mr. Hauer and has all kinds of interdimensional hijinks. Now, is it wrong to like this movie? Sure the acting was sub-par but the effects wetre cool and the concept is neat. I sometimes find myself riffing this movie, but in my completely biased opinion, I still think it's worth watching. What do you (the veiwer at home) think?

Well, I haven't seen this one, but "Ladyhawk" has been one of my favourite movies ever since I was a kid, so I'd say the answer to your question is: No. It's not wrong.
Of course, that's just me...

ok, but I think you're a little off-base. I've seen Ladyhawk too and though I think it's a bit too heavy on the fairy-tale element, it's a damn good movie. Crossworld is a whole other story. Almost like Timechasers with a better budget but the same crappy actors. You'd have to go out and rent it to understand what I'm talking about. The bad guy in the flick is kind-of 1 dimensional (funny saying that when the main thing he does is hop dimensions) but does give you a sense of menace and evil. But his subordiates are supposed to be the comic relief, and they kind of are in a very steriotypical kind of way.

Why...exactly am I "off-base"? My answer was legitimately connected to the topic. And I just happen to like fantasy movies. I mean, I don't say I like them better than everything _else_, but when they're done well... Plus, I like the other actors in that one, and the art direction is just so lush and beautiful. The cold outdoor scenes are really atmospheric, as are the creepy dark ones in castle dungeons and so forth. Etc.
I haven't seen "Crossworlds", so I can't talk about it. Sorry if that makes me "off-base", but you asked if it was wrong to like Rutger Hauer movies, and I named one I liked for my own personal example. I really don't get what was wrong with my post... (scratches head) I understand that _you_ like Crossworlds better, but your response...it makes it sound like I am somehow "wrong" for having my own opinion. I hope you didn't actually mean that.
But I probably won't come back here. I hardly ever come to the subforums, 'cos there's enough to respond to in the huge number of normal ones. So hey.

He was in Ladyhawke, Blade Runner and The Hitcher....
So, I'd say no.
If you're asking is it wrong to like some of the tripe he's been forced to make lately....depends on how much you like it, I guess.
Now, is it wrong to misspell his name....?

He has been in some good films, like the made for hbo Fatherland and one of my favs, Split Second so I'd so its not wrong.. I know my choice wouldn't be crossworlds however.

The answer to this question is an emphatic NO!!! I happen to think Rutger Hauer is a great actor as long as he's playing a part that suits him. It's all a matter of opinion, but I think he's excellent. I assume the question means starring roles, otherwise I'd bring up his phenominal performance in the small part he had in Sin City. The two I love that he starred in are Wanted Dead Or Alive (Which was kinda cheesy, but seeing him stuff a grenade in Gene $immon$ mouth and pull the pin was priceless!) and of course this one which is an absolute classic as far as I'm concerned.

I must agree with Melting Manos.
The Hitcher was great as well as "Wanted Dead or Alive" I love Gene Simmons in anything when he plays the bad guy....plus bounty hunters are cool

I must agree with Melting Manos. The Hitcher was great as well as "Wanted Dead or Alive" I love Gene Simmons in anything when he plays the bad guy....plus bounty hunters are cool Priceless exchange between Hauer and C. Thomas Howell in The Hitcher. Has me howling with laughter every time I hear it. Jim Halsey: What about gas? John Ryder: I don't need gas. Jim Halsey: What do you want? John Ryder: [Laughing] Jim Halsey: What's so funny? John Ryder: [Stops Laughing] That's what the other guy said. Jim Halsey: What other guy? John Ryder: That guy back there, the one we just passed. The guy who picked me up before you did. Jim Halsey: That was him in there? John Ryder: Sure it was. He couldn't have walked very far. Jim Halsey: Why's that? John Ryder: Because I cut off his legs... and his arms... and his Head. And I'm going to do the same to you.

I've never seen the movie you're talking about, but Blade Runner and The Hitcher are both excellent films.

Beyond what's already already been mentioned, I also really liked him in "Nighthawks" and "Eureka."

Good call on Blind Fur6y - I was going to mention that as one of my favorites (based on Zotachi: The Blind Swordman series of movies and it does it proud)
He was also in my favorite Lexx film. Was wonderfully crazed in that one.
I actually saw Crossworlds as flick I was considering for my MST3K mythic season 11 list. I heard it was bad but I don't think it was as horrible as the review stated. , I rejected it from the list but I can't remember why. I hardly rememeber the movie.

I really don't have much to add to what has already been said. But I really enjoyed his performances in Blade Runner, The Hitcher and Wanted Dead or Alive.
