i just don't get why everyone has to use CGI when there were tons of filmakers back in the 70's and 80's that made great effects that looked real. Especially the Italien filmakers like Argento, Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust still creeps me out), Fulci, and Lenzi.

i just don't get why everyone has to use CGI when there were tons of filmakers back in the 70's and 80's that made great effects that looked real. Especially the Italien filmakers like Argento, Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust still creeps me out), Fulci, and Lenzi. The three arguments they make are: 1) It's more realistic.....which is crap. Most of it has to take place in the dark in a rainstorm to look real. 2) It's cheaper.....which is debateable. Of course it is for crowd scenes. But name the last film with a huge crowd scene that was worth a damn. Troy? Alexander? Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace? 3) It's safer for the actors and stunt people....which is true. But then, film crews keep coming down here to Miami and shutting down the intercoastal bridges to film stunts like helicopters flying underneath ( Miami Vice or Bad Boys II, can't remember which). So, if it was so dangerous they had to shut down the bridges to traffic why didn't they do it with CGI?
