Am I the only one who thinks the earlier episodes are kind of lame? I've found, when it comes to The Simpsons, episode preference can be boiled down to two factors (they may or may not coincide): Which episodes you are talking about. What kind of humor you like. I'll admit, the first season wasn't very good. But the show was still working things out, and there were a few shining beacons of comedy. The reason the earlier seasons appeal to me so much is that they, at least to a degree, relied much less on celebrity cameos and pop culture (although it was a big part). A lot of the earlier episodes dealt with more common sitcom issues, and by having the Simpsons deal with them, made the episode a parody of common sitcom issues. I'm a big fan of the earlier seasons (2-10ish), and I'm probably going to stop buying the boxed sets after season ten. I grew up with a lot of older TV shows though. Stop me if I stop making sense. Season five's 'Cape Feare' is probably one of my favorite episodes. Yeah, it's a bit over-the-top, but it's a mix of a story arc, a movie parody, and a musical (H.M.S. Pinnafore anyone?). Kelsey Grammer always does Sideshow Bob justice. So, I hope this answered your question, or made you too confused to want to respond, so I'll at least think I answered your question.

Am I the only one who thinks the earlier episodes are kind of lame? Yeah I do believe that most of Season 1 hasn't aged well for me but there is still some good ones that came from that season like Bart the General and Homer's Night Out.

Am I the only one who thinks the earlier episodes are kind of lame? Yeah, the series didn't get to be really good until Season 3. I'm going to see the movie, but who knows what will happen? I certainly hope it doesn't jump the shark. There's a lot they can do to keep the series going.

I will definitely go see the movie, I still enjoy the series quite a bit even if it might be a little hit or miss sometimes it is still better than 98% of the junk that is on tv
much like mst3k, a mediocre episode is still better than most other shows
