IF this is true, it's Berman or whoever re-writing Trek history again. It's well documented that Kirk and Spock didn't meet until Kirk took over the Enterprise (Spock was already assigned there under Christopher Pike). Look at "Journey to Babel"....Kirk didn't know that Sarek was Spock's father. How could he go through the Academy being friends with Spock and not know that? If it's true and this movie is being made, I guess it's time to finally watch Nemesis now.....Trek is dead to me.

**NERD ALERT**
I had actually read somewhere that the leading candidate for the 11th Star Trek movie (if it ever went into production) would be "post-Enterprise", "Pre-Original Series" and focus on the Romulan War, formation of the United Federation of Planets and the origins of the "Neutral Zone"
Did anyone else read this....if done right, this would be a kickass movie. I will see if I can find a link...may just be internet rumor mill too...I will check

I've read this before....it's more of B&B's ENT-type revisionist history for Trek. On the other hand there's also been rumors that the next Trek movie would star Tom Hanks ( : and that the pre-TOS/Romulan War idea is just something to keep Berman occupied until his contract runs out...that it will never see the light of day. Who knows. And at this point, who cares?

Yeah, ENT was pretty bad. I kind of liked VOY; the unique storyline was cool I thought. Agree with the TNG movies too. I didn't see the last one either, which was it Nemesis? They could do so much with that with the entire Universe out there.

Somebody told, Rick Berman was so stupid, and I did not believe them, but now I believe them. - Strong Bad
Sigh, I really would hate to see this great a legacy ruined.

I dunno, I'm quite a Trek fan, but by the time *any* movie series gets to the 11th one around, it just feels way to drawn out and over-commercialized. If it were up to me, no movies would be allowed more than two sequels, with the possible exception of, say, book adaptations which automatically need more to exist. Example: I loved the first X-men movie and really loved the second. Even if the third is even better, I hope that is it for the series. By the time you get more than that, it just gets way to formulaic and repetitive.
Summary: Although I like some of the Trek movies, 11 is too many.

I heard that too. And I thought to myself, "Yeah, a whole new cast, where everything isn't wrapped up all nice and happy at the end of each movie... That's what Trek needs to save itself." Instead they go with this. I'd laugh if it wasn't actually kinda sad. The franchise now has no hope but to devolve into self-parody -- intended or otherwise. Well, I suppose there is ONE hope -- that they learn from some other notable producers/writers and pay attention to the fan reaction, which, contrary to some news reports I've seen, doesn't look all that good. But then, I don't hang out in the hardcore Trekkie forums either

*sigh* Why can't they let this franchise die peacefully and with what little dignity it has left?
