...It might not be a well-deserved shot, but it can't be as bad as forcing myself to sit through the movie with the whales again. Yes, I know it's a well loved, oft-revered Star Trek movie. But please, stop showing this one on TV! I don't really like The Voyage Home either.

I don't really like The Voyage Home either. I liked it a lot for a while. Then, suddenly, I didn't. There are much better ones out there.

"The Voyage Home" is a good movie but since it mainly takes place in the 80's it lost a lot of it's Sci-Fi edge. Personally I wanted to see more of earth being destroyed by storms. I still love it for the Chekov looking for the "nuclear wessles" and Scotty talking to the computer.

Those scenes were enjoyable the first time around.
But when it became apparent that this gets played on TV about twice for every two times the other Star Trek movies combined are shown, it became old really, really fast.

I'll accept that you guys don't like The Voyage Home....
If you'll all accept that I don't think The Search for Spock is anywhere as bad as some people say.

Christopher Lloyd as a Klingon! What more do you want! I kept on waiting for him to yell "Great Scott!" in Klingon the first time I watched it (which obviously wasn't when it first opened)

But it's one of the best movies when it comes to using the other actors....and Shatner giving a very understated and effective performance. Nimoy is a good director for him.

I like Search for Spock a lot, but it's one of the ones I'm not certain if it works as a movie outside Star Trek. I think Khan and First Contact both do, on the other hand.

That might be why I like it. First Contact- IMHO - is a good movie but not really Star Trek. You could put the cast of Event Horizon with Lance Henriksen as the android and it would still work. Kahn is the only movie ( Undiscovered Country got close) that worked as both a Trek film and a movie if you'd never seen the characters before. Undiscovered Country was almost ruined as a Trek movie for me by the fact that Valeris should have been Saavik.

Bah, you people I believe I'm going to experience another series shift. I was going through MST3K from the beginning, then somehow got onto The X-Files. Now I think those two are on hold and I'll be jumping into Star Trek. Regarding the movie, I'm not a huge trekkie but it already seems to be getting off on the wrong foot. Prequel seems like a bad idea - they should always be moving forward with this. Also, who is going to want to play young Kirk and Spock? Imagine screwing that up...
