Just saw Cars, the latest opus from Pixar, and although I was worried due to the mixed reviews, Pixar comes through again.
It's not one of their best movies, but it's definitely not their worst effort either. I'd put this one somewhere in the middle of the pack - better than A Bug's Life, but not as good as Toy Story 2.

Loved it. Great movie. Loved the montage at the end with Mack. Classic.

Loved it. Great movie. Loved the montage at the end with Mack. Classic. Yeah, although Pixar is known for their end-credit humor, I didn't hear about this segment beforehand, so it was a pleasant surprise.

I just saw it a while back. I was a bit scared at first, thinking "Is it honestly possible for a studio to create seven back-to-back movies that are all decent?" But they pulled it off. I enjoyed this one pretty thoroughly.
Wait...a memory thing is kicking in....was Pixar responsible for that non-3D "Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command" movie? I didn't see that, but I've not heard good things...
Oh, and I loved the Short at the beginning. I thought it was a great introduction.

Yeah, One Man Band was miles better than Boundin', which opened the Incredibles.
I was hesitant about Cars, but now that I've seen the final product, Pixar definatly pulled out another winner. They're the kings!

I didn't like Boundin' at first, but it's grown on me with time. Probably aided somewhat by the knowledge that it was written, voiced, and largely animated by the guy who did a Sesame Street animation called "Ladybug Picnic."
I think this one was superior, but I wouldn't discard Boundin' too quickly.

I'll discard it as quickly as I want. I watched it in theaters and on my Incredibles DVD and I loathed it both times. I hated this type of cutesy crap when I was a kid and I hate it now.

I understand that you'll discard it quickly as you choose, I was just saying that I, personally, wouldn't be discarding it so quickly, implying a hesitance for me to discard of it in as rapid a manner as you choose to.

My discardation is something of intense anger for which I feel whenever I think about that goddamn sheep bouncing like that. But not as much anger as I feel about using the word "discard" more in this thread than I have in my entire life. Let's never do this again.

Use the word "discard", or think about bouncing sheep?
Because, I have ample plans on using the word discard in the immediate future. And I need to get to sleep somehow.

There's a joke news announcement that came out back when The Incredibles was released that still is applicable: datelinehollywood.com/archives/2004/11/15/studios-sue-pixar-demand-bad-movie

Just saw it this past week with my two daughters. My younger one wanted to leave about 2/3 of the way through. We stuck it out, though, and she liked the end. As with Pixar's last couple of films (Nemo and Incredibles), I felt that Cars really sagged into the middle. While their insistence on the development of character and atmosphere in a kids' movie is laudable, they need to tighten their stories up a little. They need to keep up the action and humor more consistently.

I really enjoyed Cars. As a fan of racing, I thought it did a good job at pointing out certain things that folks who aren't fans of the sport wouldn't know. I thought the sub-plot of Doc's former career as a race car was a nice touch. I was disappointed that Darrell Waltrip got more lines than Richard Petty though. Matt

Thought this was a cute little movie and I enjoyed trying to guess the "Guest Voices". I think Bonnie Hunt sounded a little too much like Ellen DeGeneres (sp?). Overall, I recommended it to people I talked to. Wouldn't buy it or go see it again, tho.
