I just realized we didn't have "Mitchell's Movies" when this was originally posted so I'm sure it will need to be moved. Done. And the movie I would love to see in theaters is Jaws.

I think that they should open up a theater chain that specializes in showing older films. People will still buy tickets to them. That is a fantastic idea. I wonder why this isn't already being done If they specialized in classics, and films that did well at the Box Office I bet they would make a ton of dough. There was a wonderful old theater in Chicago for years called The Parkway. It was at Clark and Diversey. They changed the bill daily (at times). Classics. Cults. Something to offend everyone. It was a wonderful place. Unfortunately, it is now a Lenscrafters.

"Solaris" (original Russian), "Barry Lyndon" and Brando's "Mutiny on the Bounty" come to mind immediately.

I want a good old-fashioned Saturday afternoon matinee like from the days when I was just an itch in my daddy's pants. Start out with a sci-fi serial, a la "Flash Gordon," then a western, like an old "Lone Ranger" episode. Maybe a Warner Brothers cartoon after that. Then, a good classic, like...well, since we've been talking about it in another thread, "Song of the South." Line up a few good war movies, like "They Were Expendable," & some decent westerns, & I would be there every Saturday afternoon. Nice! I'd be there, too!

So my wishlist on movies I want to see on the big screen isn't as large as it used to be, but still up there on the list are ... A Clockwork Orange .... If you're in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (God help you! LOL) on July 28 or 29th, they're showing "Clockwork Orange" at the Collins Road Theater. The theater owner, a pretty cool guy, shows cult movies on weekends. We don't live there any more, but when we did we saw "Clockwork Orange (was nice to be able to finally read the graffiti on the walls outside Alex's house)," "The Shining," "Full Metal Jacket," "Fight Club," "Team America," "Night of the Living Dead," etc. If that guy ever screens "Blue Velvet," I'm driving back to Iowa. LOL
