I think the big complaint about your questions is that they are far too vague. We're supposed to know what movie you're talking about by knowing whether or not someone was making waffles? Sorry, we can't help you with that one, and questions like that more or less look like spam.
If you're looking for a film and have more specifics than "They wore hats" and "They made waffles," then we'd gladly find an answer for you. But if they're all so sorely lacking in detail, then I'm afraid you're on your own.

A friend of mine was wondering about this movie out loud and I got curious about it. Couldn't find any information through a brief (lazy) search through Google and so forth, so I thought I'd try this thread again.
The film appeared on PBS in the last 10 years. It involves a guy who loses a bet with a millionaire and is forced to build a stone wall for him in the middle of a field. Eventually, he figures he can't leave of his own free will and he's stuck constantly making changes to this wall at the millionaire's request.
Any ideas?

Apparently the movie is called Music of ChanceHere is description: In 1992, Natural Stone Company Inc. received a call from a filming director, Philip Haas. He was directing a up coming film called the Music of Chance, And in the story line , the characters had lost a bet in a poker game, and to pay this debt off they had to build a stone wall...... www.naturalstonecompany.com/the-music-of-chance.htmlIt sounded like an interesting movie from your description so I googled it.

That sounds amazing. Too bad it was only released as a region 2 DVD, and that's out of print.
If anyone tracks down a copy, please let us know.

It's based on a book by Paul Auster. Same title.

I've been able to find some used VHS copies floating around, but that's about it. I need to get my VCR fixed.

I got one. There was a movie from my youth with three giant ape like creatures. One black one brown and one white. They run around and destroy stuff. Typical Japanese cinema although this one may have been American. I would love top find it and watch it again. Any ideas what this may be?

Posting in this thread for Gargonshepherd, and also to ask about two movies. Crowfan and I were talking about this one the other day. Here's all I know about it. Flipping channels one night, I came across Svengoolie doing a skit on this film they were showing. The color film featured a cruel eye-patch-wearing nobleman who whipped people. Boris Karloff was also in the movie, maybe as a servant, wearing a blond page-boy wig. Svenghoolie took various film clips and sang a little song during the montage that went, "He was a one-eyed, high-born, lying, hurtful people beater...." (They also showed Karloff in his blond wig while singing, "I like short shorts!") The film's in Hammer-Studios-like color. What is this movie?
Here's another movie I recall seeing on TV long ago. It's similar in some ways to Slime People, but IIRC better. I don't remember how the movie started. I do remember it involved a disparate group of people who are trapped by a strange transparent dome that's appeared around a small town. Two scenes stand out in my memory: one is the scene where they discover the dome, by trying to drive out of town at night in a Jeep, only to be confronted by a set of oncoming headlights. They swerve, and the lights swerve with them. They pull over and stop, and the lights stop moving. They get out and investigate, and discover the lights are the reflections of their own headlights on the dome. The other scene is one where they've gone into a Old Wild West sort of saloon. One drunken guy--can't recall if he was part of the group or if they discover him in the bar or what--says something about the floor show. He starts the player piano, or plays the piano, or something. A woman in saloon-dancer costume comes out of the back on the wooden bar itself. She seems to be hypnotized or something while she robotically performs the can-can. I've read an old SF story that included the "trapped by an alien dome" motif, but didn't have the other aspects of the film. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Was it the "The Bubble"? A color film with Michael Cole (Pete from Mod Squad). He tries to break through the bubble by smashing his car into it. It was one of the first to use polorized 3D I believe. Edit, I was trying to find some pics, here's a page with some images from the film... The Bubble screen caps

Could it be War of The Gargantuas? This was one of the first monster movies I ever saw. Silly when I look at it now, but it gave me nightmares when I was 9.

The Bubble screen capsHmmm, based on the pics from that site and from the description of the movie from a few other sites around, like Film Fanatic, that sure seems to be it. Of course, when I saw on TV back in the '70s, it wasn't in 3D. At the time, I wasn't sophisticated enough to have spotted the telltale signs of a movie made to be shown in 3D, either. From the reviews, it sounds like the two scenes I remember are two of the only scenes where anything happens. The one pic of the bartender at the saloon corresponds to the saloon scene that I recalled. I think the bartender comes out and asks, zombie-like, "What'll it be? What'll it be?" while wiping a glass over and over. So, thanks, MJ!

Could it be War of The Gargantuas? I think that is it I remember the electric rays. For some reason I thought there was three. Was one good and trying to help the people?
