Just a reminder that ever since it's cancellation, MST3K's people have had whatever they do disintegrate because of lack of word-of-mouth, attendance, or whatever. Whether it's Timmy Big Hands or Edward the Less every time something good happens that is MST3K related it has a tendancy to end prematurely. Just a heads-up.

I agree sandor. Everyone needs to support this 100% and we must challenge ourselves to get people interested who have not had any MST3K experience. Don't for get to download Fifth Element RiffTrax soon.

Being that Legend actually hired Mike that should be a good sign. Even if Rifftrax doesnt fly maybe at least he can keep giving us commentary tracks on their dvd's. Dont get me wrong though I hope this thing can keep on keepin on.

Well, for whatever it's worth, Road House is listed as a "short wait" on Netflix instead of "available now." I mean, wow. It's Road House. There can be only one reason for this.

I work in store that sells used DVDs so for Roadhouse I was able to check it out and not have to pay any money for it. --Ian

I just hate Edward the Less' fate so much. It makes you cry when you read the message boards.

I don't think you're going to have to worry too much about RiffTrax. It seems to be 'in spirit' of MST3K and MST3K was a success. The only thing that worries me about RiffTrax is that some people may not like the idea of having a seperate audio track that they have to play on a seperate device, ie - MP3 Player. I think this will turn some people away from trying it and some people who currently like RiffTrax, might get tired of having to 'sync' it up every time they want to watch the movie. There might be the odd person who wont download the RiffTrax file because of speed issues too. However, I think there will be enough hardcore fans to support this and keep it going.
P.S. as I have mentioned in previous posts...if anyone wants a copy of Road House or 5th Element with RiffTrax mixed all on 1 DVD, please PM me. I require proof that you have paid for RiffTrax and Proof that you "own the movie being riffed".

When I rented it a couple months ago, it was on a "Short Wait" too... don't discount the power of The Swayze. (actually, I think they don't have a llot of copies of it left - they need to start buying the new SE)

It's a neat idea.. I just fear that if folks need to get up and get a sammich that the whole synch problem will turn em off..

I finally had a chance to listen to Road House and The Fifth Element today and I thought both were great. The synch-sound was extremely easy and I didn't mind the disembaudio voice at all except when he talked over two great lines of Road House, namely "My way or the highway" and "You're my new Saturday night thing." With so many classic lines in that movie it would be hard not to step on a few classics.
I can hardly wait for the next offering. This made me long for Kevin and Bill dropping in for a session riffing on something like The Matrix or Titanic. The possibilities are endless now.

I think Rifftrax will work simply because the costs involved are so low (Mike's salary and a website to handle the downloads) and therefore the risks involved are quite low.
This is basically what someone should have proposed to the MST guys directly after the final show was filmed. Though I'm sure Legend is happy only paying one salary...

I just bought a used copy of Roadhouse over amazon for 7 bucks, including shipping. They seem to have several copies available at quite reasonable prices, if you don't mind the fact that they are used. Doesn't bother me, as long as they work.
I can't wait to see how this thing works.

I've downloaded both Rifftrax and used my computer software to combine the movies and the 'trax with good success. I tried the "analog" way with my portable DVD player playing the Rifftrax and the unriffed movie going on the TV DVD player. Both ways work well, but I've found combining the two onto one DVD is definitely the way to go. Once you have it synced up that way, you never have to worry about it again and your not fiddling around with two sets of controls. Of course, you're not supposed to do this, but who are we trying to kid? Those of us with the technology are going to combine them. We just have to!
I agree that we should all support both buying the Rifftrax and buying and renting the movies 100%! It's as close to MST3K we are going to get nowadays and I will support this endeavor where it counts, with my wallet, as long as these RiffTrax are produced.
On a side note, I wonder if anyone in the industry has noticed the sudden spike in sales or rentals for The Fifth Element and Road House?

After making my Roadhouse DVD I sent a suggestion to Rifftrax that they include the time codes for Disembaudio to make it easier for me to make my own DVD and sure enough the very next release had the timecodes. With those time codes I didn't have to listen at all to Mike's jokes until I actually sat down to watch the film on my tv. --Ian
