On the catalog page of rifftrax.com they have a sub section dubbed "Rifftrax Classics" with the Legend tracks for Plan 9, Reefer Madness and NOTLD. I will probably download the NOTLD and sync it to the Elite DVD. I hated the look of the colorized version and you can't select Mike's track for the B&W version.

Seems pretty pointless to me.
Oh, and I thought that Legend's colorized version of Night of the Living Dead was pretty interesting.

Methinks it's awesome! ;D I can rent the movies for cheaper than I can buy 'em, and I wasn't gonna pay $20 for the Legend color films any time soon... All cheapies UNITE!

Hell, Plan 9 is public domain. You could just download a B&W version legally, if you aren't too picky. Actually, aren't all (or, most) of those Legend films PD?

All of the Legend Films titles are public domain. But I, for one, feel that their releases are still worth buying, for a number of reasons.
For one: they do a great job at restoring many of their titles. Another thing is that the colorized versions of these films are only available through the purchase of their DVDs. This may not be a huge selling point for some, but I personally find their colorizations fascinating, especially on films like "Plan 9" and "Reefer Madness," where the films are so notoriously bad that a company like Legend would only colorize them for fun (and, indeed, the colorized versions of these films are fun).
One of the reasons that I don't think that RiffTrax downloads on the Legend commentaries is a very good idea is because Mike makes jokes concerning the colorization on every one of these DVDs, and it wouldn't be fun to listen to, for instance, the "Reefer Madness" commentary, without having to look at the colorized version of the film. The jokes wouldn't make sense (unless they cut these jokes out of the audio track for the download, in which case, you're missing jokes if you don't buy the actual Legend DVDs).
As for pricing: I've seen all of Legend's releases at moderate prices used and new on various websites. You don't absolutely have to purchase the autographed copies at the more expensive prices if you don't want to spend that much. You can wait until after the discs are released, and buy 'em used for $10 or under.

I have all the Legend discs except for Carnival of Souls and on the ones I could I only watched the B&W versions and I didn't really miss out on his colorized comments. NOTLD is the only one I would buy the download for, to sync up with the awesome Elite disc.

The Legend edition of NOTLD is the only one I own. I used to own the 30th Anniversary Edition and a budget edition, but I got rid of them.

Well I commend you on getting rid of that horrible 30th anniversary edition with the added footage. That was atrocious. If you ever get another one you should scope out any of the ones from Elite Entertainment. They were the ones who first restored the film and in the process proved that there was a market for horror films to get the deluxe treatment. --Ian

Er, I did get rid of the 30th Anniversary Edition. Uh, it clearly says that in the post you quoted..."I used to own it..." "...I got rid of it."

So are they all worth getting? Are they as good as the newer RiffTrax?
I read somewhere that the Legend one's were done more like commentary, as apposed to riffing.

As I've said, I strongly recommend listening to these commentaries on the actual DVDs, with the colorization. Even if you don't like to watch colorized movies, these commentaries often make more sense with the color versions. The Legend Films discs are definitely worth getting. All of Mike's commentaries on those discs are hilarious. I also dug what Legend did with the color design on these films. I loved the comic book look of Reefer Madness.

Before you give me eye-rolling emoticons please read my post again: com·mend - To express approval of; praise. Gammer: I think they are fun. The NOTLD is more commentary than riffing, but I still enjoyed it. Plan 9 was good as well as House on Haunted Hill. If I had to say NOTLD is the weakest of the Legend releases. The only one I am going to download is NOTLD so I don't have to watch the horrible colorized version. All the other Legend releases allow you to watch which ever version and still have Mike's track. --Ian

Before you give me eye-rolling emoticons please read my post again: oops I had read the word "recommend" by mistake. Sorry. The only one I am going to download is NOTLD so I don't have to watch the horrible colorized version. I don't think that Legend's colorization on NOTLD is horrible. I think that, in order for it to have been perfect, they should have gotten a better print. There are a few grainy spots, and one shot near the end is out-of-focus. If they had worked with a better print, the colorized version would have been perfect. But it's still better than the effort Hal Roach put into the movie back in the 1980s (anyone remember the version with green zombies? No green zombies in this one).
