I just started my rip and encode of the 5th Element. What is cool is that I sent in a suggestion that in the info text they include the DISEMBAUDIO time codes for us techno nerds to use to sync up the tracks and sure enough they did. This should make it soooo much easier and faster to make the DVD.

Hey, it says that he did it with some guy named Conor something-or-other. I'm skeptical and worried all of a sudden... I thought his interplay with Disembaudio on "RoadHouse" was pretty good. Maybe Conor will be a good addition, as well. I suppose I'm just skeptical about anyone who wasn't on MST3K. Hopefully the chemistry will be okay. Anyone listened yet? I have to wait until I get my new PC.

Maybe Conor will be a good addition, as well. AS far as I can tell I have only listened briefly to the track while editing it to the video it is only Mike riffing. I believe Conor Lastowka works at Legend as well and might have helped write the rifftrack. I think that the guy with Mike in this video is Conor: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UISbaQl_dUsand found a blog here that is written by him: www.sandiegoserenade.com/--Ian

I guess it needs to be something a fair amount of people already own.

So has anyone gave it a whirl yet? I am kinda skeptical about this new guy riffing with Mike. I'd like to know how it went. Not that im not willing to give him a try. However at mst3kinfo they say that "Coming Soon: Special Guests!" is coming directly from Legend so i'm hoping for the best.

Listened to bits, I think "Conner" is just the real name for DisembAudio. Who is more active on this one.
It fits on 2 CDs, but the computer was asking me add a third? I didn't have another blank disc, so I checked out what I had, and all of Mike's riffing is on there.
Anyone who listens to this on the computer, let me know if there's some bonus material. The way it ends on my CD is that Mike says he'd like to stay for the credits but he has things to do and it ends.
Thanks

Just finished watching it, enjoyable though I found the commentary was creeping ahead of the flm I had to stop it for a few seconds evey minute/every other minute to get it to what I thought was correct. It was annoying at times, mostly when disembaudio and Mike spoke to each other with more than a few lines of dialog, when it spoke to Mike i had to turn the volume of the film down to understand what it was saying, though it may have been the rifftraks creeping forward that lead to it talking during noisy sections.
Though asidde from the creeping it was great, with the dvd playing in windows media player and the track in itunes I could set the volume of the riffs and film seperatly which woulkd be a handy feature in some mst3k episodes. Now to recover from a Criss Tucker induced headache.

Anyone else have this happen? This is the kind of thing that puts me off these ding dang computer deals.

I watched an older, fullscreen version of Roadhouse, so I thought that might have been part of my problem.
But my Fifth Element is brand new. After a perfect first hour and a half, that final 45 minutes gave me nothing but trouble. In fact, the final half hour of Roadhouse did that as well. I can understand why that would happen with a tape, but I find it weird that with a disc, the drifting gets worse at the end (at least for me)

At the "She needs your help" Disembaudio line it got off sync. I wonder where the dula layer break is on the disc (Ultimate Edition). Some players take longer to refocus the laser on dual layer discs. Maybe that is part of the problem. Maybe the player they use in the studio takes a second longer to switch. --Ian

I've seen them both and haven't had a single problem with synch-up. I play the commentary on iTunes and the DVD on Windows Media Player. Easy as pie.
Of the two, I enjoyed the Road House commentary more.
Probably because The Fifth Element is about as unwatchable as City Limits for me. I like Bruce Willis, but the Chris Tucker factor, combined with the idiotic plot, scenery-chewing acting and horrific costumes just makes me hate this film. Passionately. I thought Mike was way too nice to it. He didn't rip on the costume design enough, he never mentioned the atrocious music, and he spent more time ripping on Kevin Federline than on any of the myriad annoyances of the film. Which is hard to do considering Besson went out of his way to be as annoying as possible when making this pile.
Mike did get some nice anti-cat riffs in, though.

Ian, I used Gold Wave to mix the RiffTrax audio to the movie's audio. The Disembaudio timecodes allowed me to "blank out" disembadio's voice so he doesnt interupt the lines being said in the movie.
I did keep disembaudio's interactions with Mike though...

I have been using Nero's wave editor which works well but I am always looking for something better. --Ian
