Thank goodness. I want to support Mike's new project, but I was worried about being able to sit through Roadhouse without my gag reflex kicking in. However, The Fifth Element is an acceptable bad movie.

However, The Fifth Element is an acceptable bad movie. Isn't that the point of MST3K and Rifftrax? Giving you a reason to watch these horrible stinkers. I had never seen Roadhouse before and would never watch it without Rifftrax at this point. I can't think of a single movie other than Laserblast that I had seen before I saw it on MST3K. --Ian

firstly, anyone think Kevin might be in on the riffing of Fifth Element? Straight from The Weekly Blurb:
July 21 , 2006
HOLLYWOOD - Weekly Blurb host Mal Valour is in the hospital recuperating from what doctors described as "an emotional breakdown," possibly triggered when Mal attempted to give a positive review to M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water.
If he doesn't die, Mal will return in a week with all new Reviews You Can Really Use!
Excuses, excuses. Could he have been recording commentary at the time?
Also, if RiffTrax lasts we're all expecting Kev and Bill to join in on the fun, but wouldn't it be great if Crow and Servo joined in on the fun? Before the movie starts have Crow and Servo explain how they've been on Earth for a while and they found out Mike got this job so they got jobs their too, and now they're getting payed for doing what theyve been built to do. No stupid story on why they're doing it, not like theyve been captured again. They're doing it cuz theyre getting payed. I think it'd be great.

Are the MST3K characters copyrighted?

You should email this suggestion to RiffTrax.

That would be a cool idea, but I just have a feeling it's not going to happen.
Bought the RiffTrax for "Road House" this morning and look forward to watching the combination. I might well be the only person on this board who really enjoyed the film and has watched it several times with no commentary at all, but there you go. "Fifth Element" too, I hope he does a film I don't own soon as I'm starting to get worried about my DVD collection.
Re: price, I think $5 is pushing the upper envelope of price, especially conidering bargain-basement DVDs in stores aren't too much more than that (I live in the UK, so I'm only speaking for us, but I guess it's even cheaper in the US). Given good publicity to former MST3K fans, I see no reason why he can't get 5000 downloads per Riff, which is a pretty good chunk of change given that he's got no-one other than the guy maintaining the website to pay. As long as the quality is good (and his post-MST3K "Plan Nine" commentary shows he's lost none of his comic abilities) it should be a small success.

The Satellite News announced a new interview with Mike Nelson today. The interview can be found here.Mike gives some clues as to what movies might be coming up with RiffTrax and he mentions that he would like to work with Bill and Kevin again, if their schedules permit. Anyway, check it out if you're interested...

Forgive me for not wading through all the posts to ask this question. If asked and answered already, my apologies:
How do I get 2hrs of RiffTrax riffs onto a 80 minute CD?
I was having difficulties copying the 5th Element onto CD (No such complications w/Road House), and couldn't get it to burn. I then noticed Windows Media was giving me a message that read: "May be too large" then "Too Large". Do I have to use two CD's to capture this for transport? The file is too big to e-mail, and I want to take this to a location that doesn't have a computer at hand to play it while we watch the movie on TV. I don't recall the exact procedures I followed with Roadhouse, but it seemed to me I just dragged and dropped it to CD... Any suggestions?

It doesn't seem possible that you could get all 1h 54m of Road House onto one CD, unless it was an mp3 CD.
