Wow, finally, a chance to purchase a Rifftrax, and not leave my apartment (I bought the Xmen 1&2 set some time ago, but will not be buying X3).

Like I've said many times on other threads: I truely think the Rifftrax that work/the ones that are funny, are from movies that are cheesy and/or bad to begin with. Like Road House, Cocktail, Crossroads...
You watch, I bet Top Gun is going to be funny, because it is a cheesy movie.

I FINALLY bought my first Rifftrax this weekend and listened to this one after Fifth Element and Road House. I agree with MJ's assessment of the weak parts of the riffing. The way they made fun of the X-Men's inconsistent fighting prowess, however, was pretty funny. I especially like the riff on Wolverine/Hugh Jackman: "He's good at posing and vamping. ... Fighting, not so much." "That's all his musical theater training." Of course Wolverine is one tough SOB and he's a good fighter, but he does get his ass beaten quite a bit in this movie, along with kicking some of his own (literally). Couldn't quite get around the whole "Magneto owns me due to my metal-infused skeleton" thing, could he? And the riffs on Mystique's shape-shifting were good, if repeated a few too many times.
As noted by an earlier poster, the second half is funnier than the first. It seemed to take awhile for them to get in the groove, and this seemed a bit more improvised than the Road House and Fifth Element tracks. While Bill had some of the best riffs, he also had most of the worst, and at points it seemed to become the "Bill Corbett Show". Maybe they'll have a bit more balance in the Top Gun Rifftrax.
Overall, this was funny, but was more uneven and weaker than Road House and The Fifth Element. There weren't any parts where I really cracked up, but the Fierstein impression induced many chuckles.

Excellent points Blurry. It did seem the good guys got beat up a lot. and that was funny. As an aisde it made me think of a Japanese comicbook called Blade, The Immortal - he's basically a cursed Samurai who can't die until he's kill something like 1,000 or so men. Anyway, there's an issue where he admits his fighting skills are waining. He's forgotten how to fight for his life, the threat of death is gone. Yes there's pain but he's doesn't fear for his life anymore. That angle might have been an interesting one to explore for Logan because he's a crappy defensive fighter. "The passion of the Wolvarine" - Bill

Nice work gammer. I like the covers you made as well. ah thanks. Its pretty basic when compared to somthing as good as yours. I just dont have the mindset to do in depth reviews. The covers are ok. They're not as good as mrtorso's, but I've got a theme going with them and I think I'll stick with it.
