So, you waltz into your local Blockbusters, or whatever, and pick up the DVD of Roadhouse, The Fifth Element or Startrek V that no one has touched for a couple of years and you get the double take from the cashier who blurts out:
(Roadhouse) "Uh, still one of the best in my book, I guess. This is a real old movie. Did you mean to rent this?"
(StarTrek V) "You mean you haven't seen this one yet?"
Sweartogod.. ;D ;D ;D

Fifth Element is the only one I've gotten the guts to pick up yet. Now I'm too scared to get the others.

When I went to rent Star Trek V, the kind lady says: "Oh, and I see you have a 50 cent late charge on...'Road House'?" She said it loud enough for everyone to hear and she said it like...'you liked it that much that you kept it for another day?' I felt like melting under the counter after that.

To be totally honest, I have never gotten any kind of weird reaction from any video store employees while attempting to rent any of the films RiffTrax has done (except for Star Trek V, which I got from my local library. I was extremely glad that I didn't have to PAY for that one).

(StarTrek V) "You mean you haven't seen this one yet?" As in, "Because if you've seen it once you wouldn't want to see it again...."? (or own it like I do)

Guys, guys, you don't know how to win religious converts: turn the weird looks from weird behavior into a chance to tell people about WHY you're doing something. You may win new fans for MST3K and/or Rifftrax.
"You have a fifty-cent late fee on....Roadhouse?" "Well, you see, there's this guy named Mike Nelson. Have you ever heard of MST3K? Well, Mike's kinda continuing that in a new business move...." Etc., etc.

Yeah, I told the guy I rented Roadhouse from about it and he picked it up the next day.

Nobody has said anything and seriously, I'm going home and laughing my ass off so why should I care what anyone else says or thinks.

Meh the people at the Hollywood video I frequent usually don't bat an eye when it comes to certain movies being rented (though, in an somewhat off-topic story, I remember about two years ago when my younger cousin wanted me to rent "An American Tail" for him, so I got that and another movie, I think Clue, and gave it to the girl at the counter. After she saw me renting AAT, she gave me a look and said "Aren't you kinda old for this?" Very embarrasing, even though I knew it wasn't for me.)

I haven't gotten any reactions.
One time i bought a Dario Argento movie called Opera and it didn't work so i returned it (to blockbuster) and the guy said very loudly in front of his friends "Don't worry, we'll get you your money back on your torture movie." There were people behind me as well that started to give me strange looks. After he gave me the receipt i said to him" Yeah very funny a$$hole now f*%k off" and left.

I haven't seen "Opera" yet (only the trailer--which looks terrific), but I love Argento's work. "Deep Red," "Suspiria" and "Phenomena" are some of my favorite horror flicks of all time.

I already own ST:V and I was able to get XXX and Roadhouse from friends. The only one I have rented so far was Fifth Element. No wierd reaction when renting it, but when I returned it, the guy staired at it for a second and then shouted "Korben Dallas! That's the guy Bruce Willis plays, right?" Apparently he was a fan of the movie, go figure. Another weird thing, none of my Blockbusters even carry Cocktail.

No weird here. I went to 4 different Blockbusters before I found one...in the comedy section.
