Warning From Space wound up a pretty funny trax all told. One of the duos better efforts. Cool, I keep passing on the sales lately, and end up regretting it, but money is definitely tighter these days, and it's gonna get worse before it gets better. Their riff on Scared to Death is Ok, but it serves mostly as background noise for me. But I will try Warning From Space. Also need to get my hands on The Hideous Sun Demon.

In honor of Frank Gifford, I watched Viva Knievel last night. If this isn't my favorite Rifftrax, then it's on the short list of favorites.

RollergatorGAH!!! I guess after defeating the Ice Cream Bunny and crushing Balloon Land, the Rifftrax gang got cocky and thought they were invincible... but they prove no match for Rollergator. Not even the riffing, and most of that is so/so, can save this one. Part of the problem (aside from the tedium of the story) is the non stop guitar score, which is louder than the vocal tracks. I couldn't hear the dialog the guys were riffing on (eventually I went upstairs where I have my dusty old TV and DVD player and listened through headphones, which helped a bit). By the end the guys are simply shouting in their trauma, with the end credits a mass of screams and gunfire (which irritated me to no end). I only spent $5 on this (I had a coupon) but that was $5 too much. They should have paid ME $5 to take it off their hands. UHG!

It's things like this that make me very wary of looking into RiffTrax any more than I have. Does anybody actually like it when they do this? Yeah, the movie's bad. We can see that. I don't care how terrible it is, you don't need to have an extreme reaction to it. It's such a lazy substitute for actual jokes.

Watched Julie and Jack again and laughed a lot more this time out.
I also picked up a few more during the Labor Day sale. Including Ian and Matthew's Scared to Death, which was decent.

Rollergator
Tom Servo once said, "Just when I think I've seen the worst movie ever made, along comes the worst movie ever made." Well that about sums up Rollergator for me. Don't know if I'll ever get that guitar noodling out of my head.

The last two Rifftrax have been dismal outings. Not a single laugh out loud moment between them. Actually, the last three offerings have sucked. I mean, Sharknado 2?? The first one was kinda funny. In the same way as Hobgoblins was funny. But you don't do the second AND THIRD one. That’s precisely why they dismissed Starship Troopers and here they're shilling for all three so-bad-it's-beyond-good-and-back-to-being-bad Sharknados? I usually buy their offerings even if I don't agree with the choice of movie, just to give them the benefit of the doubt. Not this time. I realize going LCD boosts sales, and they have every right to sellout. I just won't be a part of it.

I picked up a few more during Cyber Monday.
Sharknado Live and The Wizard - both were fair, offered a few laughs here and there. The Sharknado movie was idiotic, and I'm surprised they didn't do better work on that one. The rehash on Coily was a total dud.
Edit - I watched the last one I bought, and was not too impressed with Rock and Roll Nightmare - so my Cyber Monday buys were rather m'eh

anyone else get and use their Christmas $10 coupon?
I got Santa Claus - which wasn't as good as the original, but still offered plenty of laughs (and more film). They did more with Craig, which was great.
And I Believe In Santa Claus. A French film about kidnappings and child abuse and Santa imprisoned in Africa... because hey, Christmas is a time for such pleasantries. Overall a solid release, good laughs throughout.... so I had a nice Holiday double header.

I have two accounts so I got $10 in each. I bought gift certificates for myself with them. I thought I read the coupons expired if not used.
I've still purchased every riff to date. With my current financial state being a bit tight I might not be able to continue.

I had a previous $5 coupon and there was the 10% offer... so all told it cost me a little over $6, nice deal for two trax.
Also - I'm waaaay behind on the features, and haven't picked up a short in ages. If they are still doing shorts collections I should buy a few of the recent ones. I'd like to hear the ones Mary Jo and Bridget have done.

I did watch the Star Wars New Hope one since I got the dvd original trilogy set. It was good and I liked the jokes at the new SFX being shoehorned it but some of the stuff got old near the end of it(like the Porkins jokes)

Saw the repeat of "RT Live: Starship Troopers" last night. Anyone else here see it?

^Nope, I'm not willing to lose a nights paycheck to see these. So unless they ever replay them on a weekened I'm out.
But I did download a few...
Miami Connection Probably my least favorite live release. Laughed sparingly and the movie was a chore.
Godzilla What a hoot. I was laughing steady throughout. Now this was something I wish I could have seen with a crowd.

The Room - Live Edition
I liked the original riff of The Room (though I was a "fan" of The Room before they did the riff, so I was probably predisposed to like it), but there was definite room (no pun intended) for improvement. All the reviews I've read from The Room Live show indicated that it was superior to the original riff, but unfortunately I never got to see it. Due to (presumably Wiseau-related) rights issues, we aren't getting a release of the actual live show, but this past week Rifftrax released a studio version of the Live script.
Those reviews were spot-on - the new Live script is definitely superior to the original. The biggest, most noticeable difference is with the nauseating sex scenes. In the original riff, they had DisembAudio skits mostly unrelated to the horror that was going on onscreen. I never particularly liked the skits, but it was completely understandable on why they did it - how the hell do you riff that? Well, for the Live script they did just that, and amazingly, they pulled it off rather well. The best is the staircase scene, where the trio go to town on how incredibly painful and awkward actually having sex on that staircase would be. The other scenes get some good laughs as well, including some funny stuff about Wiseau's bizarre sex position. (if you haven't seen/heard of The Room, as my last paragraph probably indicates, the movie is bit more "adult" than a lot of other Rifftrax efforts, and the riffing follows suit. Not that the gang is overly vulgar, but it's definitely a bit more "R-rated" just based on the content they're watching. Just a word of warning).
Beyond that, the other difference I noticed (beyond generally just having a few new lines that made me laugh more than the original) is that they let the movie's amazingly awful dialogue play out a bit more. I remember in the original riff there were some instances where some extremely silly lines of dialogue were talked over and inaudible. In the live script, it seems like the riffing was timed a bit better and much more of the dialogue was audible, which was both funny in and of itself and also gave the gang more to work with.
I hope they manage to get the rights to release the actual Live show at some point - as much as I enjoyed the studio version of the script, I imagine seeing it along with the crowd reaction would be a treat.
