Ah yes, the clever things we remember to say when the situation is over and done with. Yeah, I should have got some free rentals out of the deal, but it's too late now. Besides, the beeotch that rented me those movies is probably going to become one with some landfill somewhere soon, so why make her awful life more awful? She'll pull that stunt again, I'm sure of it, and in front of the wrong person and the manager, as so many before, will fire her.
Anyway, I watched this today, and...not bad! I was pleasently surprised. I guess the relentless bad acting and grim message of Cocktails made me wary of any further excursions into this genre. I guess I know better now. At least most of the characters in this movie were somewhat likable, whereas I couldn't stand any of them in Cocktail.

I always have a smart ass thing to say - it's part of my evil nature. But I was never as sharp as this drummer I had in my band once. He always had the greatest comebacks and he said it in the most matter of fact, dry matter. He made playing gigs a riot.
Anywhoo - I'm glad to hear you survived and enjoyed it Dr. Z, I have the day off tomorrow and am looking forward to it (then I'm gonna go see the Black Dahlia movie. Laughs to drama will define the day)

I will watch every RiffTrax without question because I have faith that Mike will make it worth my time, but I have to admit that some are pretty painfull and indeed humiliating to buy or rent.
I stopped at Best Buy with a stack of coupons on Friday after work to pick up Crossroads and X-Men. X-Men was easy to find on the shelf, but I wasn't so sure about Britney's epic. I prayed that I could find a copy, not because I wanted the movie that badly, but I cringed at the thought of having to ask a clerk to help me locate it. Luckily I found one copy and carefully hid it between the X-Men DVD and a Godzilla set I decided to pick up.
When I got to the check out this cute little girl (she looked about 17) starting ringing up the DVDs. When she saw Crossroads she said "Oh, I love this movie. I've been going to pick up a copy of it." I wasn't sure what to say so I said "Oh. Sorry. This was the last copy on the shelf." She replied "Darn. Well I'm sure we'll get in more copies." (Yeah, right). Then she said "This is such a great chick movie. Why are you buying it?" I didn't have the heart to tell her I only wanted it so I could hear Mike rip it to pieces. Nor did I have the brain to come up with something like "Britney is an underappreciated musical and acting genius and if you'd like to come over tonight we can watch it together and discuss her talents." Instead I just sort of starred at her for a few seconds and said "it's a gift for my niece." D'oh!

Seriously, Dr. Z, you should contact the store manager to complain about that. She has no right to mouth off like that, and she needs to be put in her place. I would have demanded to see the manager right then, after informing her that her job description does not include offering her valueless opinion on the movies the customer has selected. And if I wasn't satisfied with the way the manager handled it, I would have asked to speak to the district manager or whoever was higher up, and stood there while the manager called him/her up. I would have drawn it out and made a big deal about it. Customers don't do that often enough. When the people who are supposed to serve you don't show the proper respect, you have to smack them down until they do.

I think this is one of the best rifftrax yet. I honestly beleive that the funniest ones are going to come from bad movies. Lets take a look at my top 3 favs. 1. Road House - This movie was cheez to the "e". And it was the funniest one yet. Bad mullets and stupid cliche's. Perfect for riffing. 2. Crossroads - This movie is in imdb.com's bottom 100 list. Look how funny it was. There was too much to make fun of. 3. Cocktail - Another cheesy '80's movie. Again, this style works so well for riffing on. The others were good rifftrax, but many argue that the other movies were good or at least semi-good without Mikes help. Ok, maybe STV wasn't that great of a movie by itself, but you have to look at whats working here for rifftrax and I think a pattern will develop to let us know what ones are going to be funny.

*sigh*
You guys are starting to wear me down on Crossroads...
if only I didn't have a HUGE stack of other movies to watch first.
(To say nothing of the fact that I'm at 510 in my "watch every episode chronologically" quest.)

You have to act immediately on something like that or its just your word against theirs. As I said in my last post, with that sort of attitude the girl is probably not working there anymore as I write this. You gotta let some things go and realize you missed the opportunity. Hopefully next time this happens I'll be more prepared.

Hey Doctor Z! Maybe you'll be ready to deal with the clerk when Mike does From Justin to Kelly. I avoid these type problems by sticking with Amazon.

I will have to remember to talk the manager if that ever happens to me... Just don't take that crap next time, or just NEVER go there again.
Man, this movie hurt. Especially the whole nerd sex scene. Ewww.... I think the beginning hurt more then anything else. Man this movie would be a whole lot cooler if that guy was a crazed killer, who picked off the girls one by one.
