I can't wait for this one. I think Halloween is a great movie, but I can see an awful lot of opportunities for riffing.

That's probably my favorite Rifftrax art so far.

Out of thousands of bad horror movies they could've done for Halloween, they choose, instead, one of the best ever made. I'd like to hear one of the goofy "in space" horror movies... You got your Leprechaun in Space, your Jason X, your Hellraiser 4...

Out of thousands of bad horror movies they could've done for Halloween, they choose, instead, one of the best ever made. I've never seen it, and I won't have an opinion on it until I rent it for the RiffTrax, but the film sounds like there are plenty of chances for humor (even if it is good, which, I can't say, as I've never seen it), and after all, Mike did do commentaries for the Legend Films DVDs of the good horror movies Night of the Living Dead (definitely one of my top-10 favorites) and House on Haunted Hill, which are, indeed, classics of the horror genre. Trust me, with Mike and Kevin working together on this one, it's going to be hilarious, even if (and, again, I have no idea) it's a good movie.

even if (and, again, I have no idea) it's a good movie. 100% on the old tomatometer (which is, admittedly, an easier feat for old films, but it's the same rating the aforementioned NotLD and HoHH got). I dunno. Halloween is actually my favorite horror movie, which I watch once a year on October 31st as a capper to my Halloween celebrations. Think I'll be sitting this rifftrack out and watching it unaltered as I normally do. Much as I love Mike and Kevin, I can't say I have any desire to laugh at this movie (ok, outside of laughing at the super-fly '70s fashions and hairstyles). Hopefully, next year they'll tackle a real cheezy horror flick. Tons of choices out there, from the Charles Band-y Puppet Master, to the homoerotic Nightmare on Elm Street 2, to the deeply politcal Hard Rock Zombies, to the hard-rocking Slumber Party Massacre II, to Wes Craven's truly terrifying Music of the Heart.

The thing about RiffTrax is that they don't promise to riff bad movies. They just riff movies.
I didnt think 5th Element was bad but they riff'd it anyway. I was also suprised that they chose to riff Halloween. I was under the impression that it was *ok*.
The main thing here is that is just watching it for fun and enjoying it for what its worth.

Okay, ran into a snag when I found out that the VHS copy I had rented was the extended version created for TV. Luckily, Amazon has the regular version on DVD, so I bought it from there. Should recieve the DVD by the 27th.

After you watch it, report back here. I'd be interested to see how the riffing strikes you on this particular flick...
