Well this flick bored the ever loving tears out of me and I'd rather watch paint dry than have to endure this overblown turd again (Gawd it felt soooo good to get that off my chest!)
But for Mike and Kevin, I shall endure it. There's some fantastic art in the contest too.

There are no sacred cows. If they keep bringing the funny, I will keep sending them money.
Personally, I am glad they are taking on more "respected" fare. I'll gain just a little shred of additional enjoyment knowing that somewhere a self-important, overblown LotR fan is furious that this was even made. Few things are as funny/sad as taking a personal affront to jokes aimed at a movie about elves and orcs.

Before this Riff was announced, my wife and I had already made the decision to watch the whole trilogy over Thanksgiving weekend. Seeing as there's no way she's going to watch it with RiffTrax, looks like I'll be sitting through this movie twice. Where did I put those smelling salts...?

So far I LOVED the two RiffTrax I downloaded (X-Men and Star Wars) so I have high hopes for this one, especially with all the Rings riffs on MST over the years.

My only problem with rifftrax is that I'm becoming lazy, probably because they release them so fast. I pay for them and all, but then it's been taking me forever to get to the video store and rent the movie. I'm now 4 trax behind the curve so it might be awhile before I finally sit down and watch this one.

I gotta agree with the captain. 6 hours of FOTR is a whoooole lotta Elijha Woods to sit through. Wait, I saw this in the theater, and I am now going to be watching it again... Awww!

I've had to watch this one in stages. It's pretty good, but Star Trek V is still the best in my book. After about an hour into TFOTR my attention starts to wander, even with the Rifftrax. I forgot how long the movie was.
About a year ago, I obtained all the extended version copies of The Trilogy and started watching at 7:30 in the morning, finishing at 9:30 that night. That takes into account bathroom and food breaks. Still, that is a lot of watching one story to sit through.

Your post, Dr. Z, reminded me of the time my beloved and I went to watch a special showing of all of the original 3 Star Wars flicks at the local arthouse many years ago. The place was packed when we got there; far less than a quarter of the theater was full when the credits of the final film started showing. The theater wisely gave generous intermissions between shows; it still started to feel like we were being tortured.
Funny how ideas like this can seem like fun at the begining.

I went to see all 3 LOTR films in one sitting at the theater. They showed the extended editions of the first two, then the midnight premiere of "Return of the King". We had half hour breaks between films. It was a phenomenal experience, and the crowd was just as full at the end as at the beginning.
As for this Rifftrax, I really enjoyed it. The first 10 minutes were hilarious. "Sauron will be back in Sauron 2: The Revenge of Three-Fingered Pete."
