The way I see it, Rifftrax was never supposed to be MST3K. They even say that it is NOT "MST3K 2.0." No one should expect it to be the same. It's just the same three primary cast members writing humorous commentary tracks for movies. There's no clearly defined parameters for what the movies or riffs should be like, unlike Mystery Science Theater because - tada! - it ISN'T Mystery Science Theater. I just think that no MSTie will ever be truly able to enjoy it unless they get those expectations out of their heads. It's just Mike, Bill, and Kevin, doing what they do best - taking potshots at movies. The end. As for the guest stars? I could care less who's riffing the movie, so long as they're funny. That should be all that matters. Sure, it's nicer to have familiar voices, but the goal isn't to have a family reunion, the goal is to be funny. If Neil Patrick Harris and Rich Kyanka can achieve that, then bring 'em on. Very well said, and I think the 'die hard' rifftrax fans would agree with this 100%

It's a retread of MST3K.

It's a retread of MST3K. So, was Mike Nelson's book Movie Megacheese just a retread of MST3K, too? I mean, he's trashing bad movies in that, also. Mike and Kevin both do one thing well - movies. And they are particularly good at handling bad movies. That's what they do. And yes, primarily MST3K helped put them in that position. But, what - should they never mess around with bad movies ever again because it'll just be retreading MST3K's old stomping grounds? I just think that's a ridiculous argument. And of course it's (usually) going to include the three primary cast members of the show. They hired Mike, so who the heck else would you think he'd want to bring in to riff with him? Naturally, the two people, and personal friends, that he's worked with the most consistantly in recent years. Besides, you make it sound like an MST retread would be a bad thing. I can't understand why. I say, so long as the quality is decent, keep rolling out the "retreads."

I'm going to stop debating this. I've made my point, and some seem to either misunderstand or intentionally ignore what I'm saying.

I, for one, like that they're bringing in "outsiders". I mean, we're often debating which other celebrities would have done well on the SOL, and now we're getting a chance to see for real. Go Mike! And go Neil Patrick!

I wonder if he'd hit Mike, if he called him "Doogie"...

I sincerely hope there is at least 1 "Doogie" joke or reference in this rifftrax.

UGH, special guest stars? Riffing good movies? This is why I'm never going to get into RiffTrax. You're weird. I've always thought so. MST3K wasn't the first to make fun of/or manipulate film media for laughs. And they wont be the last. I'll watch everything they do because, by golly I like to laugh. Screw me! Damn it, liking to laugh... pshaw!

I wouldn't say anything unless you were quoting me, and I knew I'm the only person here who seems to dislike RiffTrax, but just about everything you said has absolutely nothing to do with my point or were even things I said.

I don't think you are weird, VH. You are just expressing an unpopular opinion in this neck of the woods.

You express yourself so well and so clearly VH that I've always made it a point to avoid your points.
