Sky: MJ will be the next guest. I swear I didn't know this before I started this thread! I should have my own psychic show or something.

Incidentally, I love Aisha Tyler. I'm not so sure I'd like her on a Rifftrax, though. You didn't like her on the Soup? I thought she had great comedic delivery and timing and was very funny at, what amounted to, riffing on talk shows. So, Mary Jo... Not happy to hear the news, but I guess I have no choice but to give her another shot. Hope she does better and doesn't give the bland delivery she offered in the theater on MST.

Honestly I think most of her delivery being bland in that episode was probably her playing the Pearl character who was very often bland and almost depressed when she wasn't angry.

Sorry, MightyJack. Once again, we shall have to disagree.
Mary Jo will be amazing. I loved her book, and am looking forward to hearing her back in the riffing chair.
RAD, let her know I'm very excited for her involvement in this.
Thanks.

Rad, If he already knew, then why phrase his sentence this way: I think Mary Jo would be great. Note the "Would" there. Jetjaguar, Perhaps it's because Sky can be counted on to be discreet with information that hasn't been made generally available.

RAD, let her know I'm very excited for her involvement in this. Thanks. Hey, I loved her book too, wrote a glowing review of it as a matter of fact. I think she is a very funny person. I simply can't stand her as a comedic actress. I couldn't stand the mugging, bugging out the eyes delivery. I made me cringe and grit my teeth.

And, Mightyjack, I can't disagree with your opinion of her one in-theater riffing performance (even though I love it, but of course I'm completely biased). Hopefully you'll like her RiffTrax performance. If not, I'll personally refund you the cost of the RiffTrax and the rental of the movie they're riffing. How's that?

So RAD, does MJ have like an office space to write in or are you both giggling in front of the TV at the moment?

That's very generous - but It's cool. It's only $3.00, and I gotta support the home team. I'll get it and give it a shot with an open mind. Everyone assumes that because I didn't care for the Pearl character/performance, that I hate Mary Jo, and I don't. Hell, as I said before' I loved her book. Liked it better than Kevin's book, thought it was equal to and often surpassed some of the stories in Mike's book. Comedy on TV and movies would be much improved by miles if she working as a head writer on, well, hell anything they put out these days.

She's got her own office space where she typically works, but we always watch movies (including episodes of MST3K on the rare occasions that I can cajole her into watching one with me) together. Although, at the moment, we're in Dallas as she's one of the judges in the USA Film Festival. So I'll be watching movies alone for the next few days!

Rad, If he already knew, then why phrase his sentence this way: I think Mary Jo would be great. Note the "Would" there. I've known for months. I phrased it that way because I didn't want to be the Deep Throat of Rifftrax. I can keep secrets!

Wow, I'm not sure how I feel about that. I hope I don't sound sexsist against my own kind, but the woman would have to be damn funny in order for it to work. Carol Burnett or Madeline Kahn ...someone like that ...and I know at least one of them is dead. Now I love MJ to death and she's made me laugh many times on Mst3k. (I almost laughed myself to death when she did that 'Lovey-lovey' send up of PBS) But let's face it her time in the theater was not her best moment on the series. Maybe it's the movie? Maybe with the right movie it would work. I don't know.

Well, look at it this way. Her time in the theater in MST was really too short to give a fair idea of her on-camera riffing skills. She barely had enough time to get over her nervousness (or her giggles). But writing, rehearsing, and taping a whole commentary track with Mike should give her a much better chance at getting into her groove. ("How Mary Jo Got Her Groove Back," heh!) If nothing else, she's got a great laugh, which I would love to hear on a RiffTrax. I get a kick out of the riffers cracking each other up. All this is academic to me, though, since I've never downloaded a RiffTrax and don't have the faintest idea how to make it work.

Yeah, I first "discovered" her on Talk Soup. I think she's one of the funnier women in entertainment, which is something that makes her considerably attractive to me. But, uh, I digress. ;D Still, as I imagine her riffing a movie with Mike, I just see her being really hit-or-miss. Riffing is a lot different than straight-up comedy, in my opinion. It could go either way. I'd be willing to give it a go, of course. As for Mary Jo, I'm certainly not a fan of her Pearl Forrester, but let's remember (as was pointed out) that the character isn't exactly charismatic. In-theater, in- character delivery will differ from the actors/writers riffing as themselves. There's a similar difference in delivery with Mike, Bill, and Kevin too. I have a feeling she'll do much better as herself than as Pearl.
