So I watched a short clip of the RiffTrax on Episode II on Youtube today, and I thought it was genius. I haven't been able to do RiffTrax because I don't have an MP3 player.
However I do own quite a few movies they've already done. The Matrix, Star Wars, Lost, Terminator 3, Daredevil, X-Men, and Firewall to name a few. I'd be able to get started right away.
The thing is, I can't think of a damn thing I'd use my MP3 player for except RiffTrax. Would it be worth it? How does one download and how fast?
Though, I will say this, if Nelson announced the next one was going to be Friday the 13th, I'd drop everything and buy one right now. So far that has yet to have happened, so I'm going to ask you guys.

Some of those movie's Rifftrax are hilarious! You don't actually need one if you have a computer anyway. I eventually caved in and bought one mainly thanks to Rifftrax and I have to say it's alot more convenient than the tape walkman I was using!
To download one is easy. Go to the catalogue in the Rifftrax site, add the one you want to your cart then pay. You do it through Paypal and is like buying anything off of ebay or Amazon. You will then be provided with a link to download either NTSC or PAL depending on the format you have the film in, click on it and if you have broadband it takes maybe about a minute. Probably depends on the speed of your connection. Then play it and follow the instructions in the opening as how to sync it up, it's very simple.
Rifftrax is well worth it, however you listen to it.

I don't listen to music, don't even own a stereo and always leave my car radio turned off. So when I say I would use it for nothing but, I mean nothing but. I have dialup. Is there anyway to save it on my computer if I ever want to listen to it again? Or would I have to buy it all over again?

It is a download, not streaming. You save it on your hard drive. You can burn it on cd.

Hmmm...I'll think about it then. Probably won't do it right away though.

Can you not listen to it on your computer? I've never done anything besides use some free media player for the rifftrax mp3 on my computer while watching the movie on TV. Of course, I have a laptop, which allows me to have the computer close by the TV.

BTW, There are more free samples on my homepage (click the logo in my signature). And they are different then the ones found on the RiffTrax site.

Well, I'm probably going to give it a try tomarrow. I'm thinking Matrix, since it's one of my all time favorite movies. Probably Star Wars and Daredevil afterwards.
If no problems arise, I will probably branch out my review thread with RiffTrax. How does that sound?

Hmm, just for rifftrax? hmmmm.
Mind you, now that I think about it, you must be able to pick up a 200 meg mp3 player pretty damn cheap by now. go for it.

How many MBs does the Matrix RiffTrax take? I've been downloading a little under an hour and I'm at 12.7 MB so far.
Just curious.

IMDB says Over the Top is 93 minutes long, the Matrix is 135. I'm not sure if runtime has anything to do with how much space it will take, but I would assume so. I'm at 26.3 right now, so I guess I'm about two thirds of the way there.
OK, thanks.

I have dial-up at this point, just bought my mate's old computer and seriously looking at broadband. I've downloaded all the ones I've done at my uni library so far and they have broadband so it was dead quick, just curious to how long it took with dial-up? Matrix is one of the longest ones.

The Matrix took about 2 and a half hours. Shorter movies took less time though. I can only imagine how long Lord of the Rings would take.
